Hi fellow Keelboaters,

Some of you have mentioned being interested in learning more about being part of a Race Committee.  There are a number of opportunities lining up in the next few months.  Here's one that takes place THIS SUNDAY, as part of the International Ice and Snow Sailing World Championships here in Madison. I'm planning to attend. Maybe I'll see you there?

Inside the Mind of a Race Official - How Decisions Are Made

Two of the top officials internationally of the sport have offered to lead a clinic for the local community on race officiating, Sunday, February 2nd  from 2-4:30pm.

Marina Psychogyiou and Markus Schwendtner are both Internationally certified race officials with experience at all levels including World Championships and Olympics.

Topics: “Inside the mind of a race official - how decisions are made”. This is an interactive course to help race officials, sailors and community members understand what the others are thinking and help navigate the race process. Based on both speaker’s personal experiences, the session helps attendees of every level achieve an open-minded approach to racing and officiating. Additional topics include: introducing a new sport in the Paris Olympics, digital officiating and higher-level opportunities for officials.
