As of know, I do not believe these are needed. I appreciate Max's efforts however, the point of a committee was to reduce bureaucracy.

Putting these in just puts up blocks to those who may want to create good events and run them, because though I doubt they will have anything too offensive they might worry to much about the other parts.

I say we table these till we actually run into an issue.

But appreciated Max.

I think these are fantastic. They symbolize everything Kedma should be - civil, representative of Modern Orthodoxy, inclusive, etc. - and they create a structure and system for organizing events.

Thanks Max! Can't wait to implement these!

I think we should wait on these till if it becomes an issue, then we can immediately implement if necessary.

Then why not just implement them now? They make sense, there seems to be majority agreement, and they are being implemented to avoid uncomfortable situations.

I see the value in implementing these changes immediately for two reasons 1.) I think this is a step we should consider as a means to confront the concrete issues of planning an event, and that may help to get beyond bureaucracy or group politics.  2) By agreeing to have this system in place, we eliminate the need to argue for or against someone's ideas to establish a program's value. I trust every proposed initiative has been carefully considered before a member suggests it, so having these guidelines will keep the emphasis of a board conversation where it is most needed: on the possibility of making the event happen in the best way it can.

By the time we wait for an issue to come up, it would be too late. I don't feel comfortable spending KEDMA dollars if it doesn't meet the aforementioned conditions. Disregarding the measures shows a disrespect to the funders and each other. Look at a federal grant, before companies or non-profits receive government funding they show that funding X would provide a,b and/or c. They do NOT initially receive money and then decide how to spend it. Also, the tribe has spoken (reference to survivor and judaism).

Everyone has good points. We can't not have guidelines for the way we do things, or we have repeats of all the (pardon my French) "shit tossing" that's been going on recently. We chose to put in a more "political" system in order to get things done, and with that comes guidelines for how to get those things done, as can be demonstrated by every successful governing party ever. There's not even a question of whether we need them or not, but I think we should put it to a vote because of the whole "politics" thing.

I hereby move into voting procedure voting. Voting is open for the next twenty-four hours a vote of Yay supports the proposition and a vote of Nay does not.

Was just about to say...when did this group turn into mock congress?  Sorry, did I speak out of turn?  Can someone make a motion for me to send this email?  I'll second it.

Glad I can amuse, even at this hour.  As long as we're doing, planning programs, that's when this group is the healthiest, and growing!
