If you're using VW Fundamentals v2019 and have just transitioned from v2018, the ability to use wall tools was taken away, among other things. You should be able to see the wall tools in the Tool Sets palette (at least, I can in v2020), but you won't be able to use them.

If the Tool Sets palette is turned on, check that it did not get resized so small that the tools are not showing. Are there other tools besides the wall that are not showing in the Building Shell or other set?

I've just started to use the new Vectorworks 2020 fundamental with render works. The wall tool is not in the palettes. I've been using Vectorworks for years, it's very useful. How can I find it or get it back?

I also upgraded to 2021 Vectorworks Fundamentals, expecting all the same features and now half of them have been removed. I find this very disappointing as I would of looked into getting a different program if this was the case. I've just spent a lot of money on this new program and I can't do my work for my clients.

The panel will be secured to the wall with screws through the wall studs. To help hold the panel in place before it was secured we drove a pair of finish nails into the studs where the bottom of the panel will be making sure the nails were level.

All of the solid wood components on this build are going to be red oak. I have a bit of it in the shop and it blends well with the birch plywood that we are using. All of it is rough sawn though so we need to go through the milling process for each piece. To make the trim we also had to resaw its thickness at the bandsaw.

For the shelf a small lip near the front edge would do a great job of preventing the planes from falling off the front edge. Instead of adding material to the front to form the lip we decided to use the jointer to create a wide rabbet along the top face of the shelf. This was the first time I used my jointer for a rabbet cut and wow was it quick and easy.

Before installing the shelf the lower angle brackets needed to be installed. Glue and a couple brad nails is all that is needed here. I was nailing through the top surface of the shelf so I did make sure that the nail heads were a good bit below the surface to prevent damaging the planes. The glue is going to do all the work in this situation. The brad nails are there just to hold everything together while the glue dries.

Before securing it to the wall I beveled the back face by a few degrees so that the top of the chisels would angle out slightly from the wall. Again, two screws to secure it to the wall. I also went back and brushed on a coat of water based polyurethane on all of the holders. This was quick and easy to do.

Jay does not do these videos to teach others how to be safe in their shop. He does them for many other reasons, mostly to encourage others to enjoy making things with your hands. The safety police can be quiet.

I have to install some wall network plates. This is going to require wall fishing from the attic. This fish will be lest than 12 foot from attic to plate. I have looked at a few wall fishing tools and of course each one says that they are the best choice, but then they are trying to sell their product.

Get yourself a piece of chain and electrical tape. Cut a hole in the top plate and tape your fish string or cable to the other end of the chain. It will hang vertically in the how and is easy to grab with a hook.

Jack Chain is a widely used general utility chain that is great for applications where strength is not a necessity. Ideal for hanging potted plants, fluorescent lights, novelties such as bird feeders and children's toys.

I hate using fish tapes. I am probably doing it wrong but I always seem to get them caught up on something. I switched to the fiberglass rods and like using them much better. They are stiff enough to push through insulation.

Eagle Tool US Fish Rod Set is used to install wires above ceilings, through walls, and under carpets. The 1/4 in. Dia. fish rods are flexible yet provide excellent rigidity for extended distance stand

In an emergency, I have used a clothes hanger. Fish tape can work, but as mentioned before it is a pain in the backside when you have insulation to deal with. Highly recommend the fish rods mentioned above. Just about any kind will do. You can connect them together as you feed through the wall if you need to.

I'm wondering how do I add Wall Types that I have created (not wall types from the catalogue) to a tool palette. I'm doing this because I want to be able to set the Cleanup Group Definition to be automatically predetermined so I do not have to set it for every wall that I draw in. And the only way to do that is through the tool palette properties...

Create a source file (or files, if desired) to hold the Wall Styles. Tool palette tools do not hold the Wall Style definition, just a pointer to a file that holds the definition. Save that file to a location where everyone who needs to use the tools has access. Open the file from that location, and then open Style Manager. Drag the Styles from Style Manager and drop them on an editable tool palette to create Wall Tools. You can then edit the tool properties as desired. I highly recommend saving your Wall Cleanup Definitions to the same source file as your Wall Styles, and pulling them from there in the tool properties as well.

I was reading through post #2 @David_W_Koch and did not know you could drag wall styles from the style manager which is pretty nice. I would think it would apply to other things in the style manager as well.

If that didn't answer your question I've made a (screencast) that shows an alternate way by dragging the wall from the drawing ( your library file) onto a new or existing palette and most of the settings that pertain that wall will follow. Once you make and populate your palette then you can drag the palette to your content browser and publish your catalog to share with others running aca or c3d.

I have been trying to set up an energy model for thermal comfort in winter. Is there any way to set a (sub) surface on the wall as a radiator? Or is this type of heating system limited to what is available in the HB Radiant HVAC properties component, i.e. floor or ceiling heating?

These messages are consistent even if I give all components a name. There are no other errors and when I run the model without a detailed Ironbug HVAC system, the entire script runs properly and I get MRT, Top, and PPD results out, which is what I am after. Maybe @chris or @MingboPeng can help me a bit?

You can change the type of radiant surface (Floors, Ceilings, FloorWithCarpet, CeilingMetalPanel) using the HB Radiant HVAC Properties component. There are also several controls exposed there. However, I understand that the options exposed on these LBT components are a simplification from what we had in Legacy since so many people were setting up radiant system controls that were just not realistic given the construction they were using. You probably know that the best practice for radiant slabs is to cast the temperature sensor into the slab and the controls on the LBT templates are set up this way for the slab options (the metal panel is much simpler).
