Hi all,

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the post-exams/essays summer!

I assume you've all seen that there are major strikes happening next week on Thursday 30 June. With PCS, RMT, NUT, UCU (Only FE and pre-92 HE though) and other unions taking action, 800 000 workers could be on strike next week - an important stepping stone towards the kind of mass action that can stop the government!

I know some people aren't in London anymore, but it would be good if we could do some stuff to support the strikes anyway:

- UCU and Unison are organising a lunch time meeting on Tuesday next week (1pm) and they have asked whether we want to jointly host it. It's quite a general meeting about the strikes and the cuts so it would be a good opportunity to invite everyone along. Maybe we could have a banner making session afterwards?

- Should we meet on the day of the strikes to visit some picket lines? UCU are meeting at 8am I think. We could meet up with them, visit picket lines and then go to the demo together (12noon, Lincolns Inn Fields).

- There's a meeting tonight at 6.30pm at Friends Meeting House. It's supported by EAN, by a loads of trade union branches, UK Uncut etc. Tony Benn, Mark Serwotka and others are speaking so it'll be quite big. Apparently it'll be covered by Sky and BBC as well. I assume quite a few of us will be there anyway so we can also talk about everything there.

Let me know if there are any problems with jointly holding the meeting next week!

All best,
Marieke
