| Hi everyone, The national UCU ballot for strike action in defence of jobs, pay and pensions is starting this Wednesday and will be going on until 2 March. At the meeting last week we talked about getting the 'We Support our Teachers' campaign going again and using green posters, armbands etc as the campaign did during the ballot/strike at King's last year. It would be a really good way of showing staff that we support them and of getting the message out to other students that the (potential) strike is connected to the wider defence of education against cuts and fee rises. Seeing as the ballot is starting this week, we need to get organised quickly. There's a London-wide EAN meeting at the LSE at 6pm tomorrow. It'll be a useful meeting in itself, Jim Wolfreys and Stathis Kouvelakis from King's will be speaking. We could also use it to meet up at the LSE (Quad?) beforehand (5pm?) to plan what we're doing at King's. What do people think? Also, we decided that it would be good to hold a joint student/staff meeting as an opportunity for students to find out about the strike. I've spoken to people in UCU and we can go ahead with it this Wednesday at 1pm. They had already booked a room for this (S -2.23) so all we have to do now is build it. Please find attached a flyer, and let me know if there are any problems with it and I'll change it. See you all soon, Marieke --- On Wed, 2/2/11, hannah mallinckrodt <coolio_...@hotmail.com> wrote:
