| Hi all, Just a reminder of the meeting later today. below the messsage that UCU sent out yesterday. All best, Marieke "Defending Jobs, Conditions & Education at Kings" Tuesday 28th June, 1pm, Strand K1.28 Open meeting for all staff & students at King's. Organised by UCU, Unison and the Education Activist Network at KCL The cuts to higher education are already having an effect with trebling of tuition fees, increasing workloads on all staff, the introduction of corporate style targets & performance management in some areas. All making it harder to deliver education. However, June 30th will see unprecedented strike action across the public sector with around 800,000 school teachers, lecturers and civil servants out over pensions. Although UCU members at King's and other pre-92 universities will not be taking action on June 30th, a new ballot for action over the attacks on our pension scheme is taking place. Tomorrow's open meeting will give staff & students the opportunity to discuss how we can support our colleagues on June 30th and how we can bring this spirit to defend education & jobs at King's in the Autumn term. |
