Subject: [PROMUDA-Circle] Anwar's Core Message/Strategy?

Dear all,

With Anwar's rallies taking place nationwide, it must have been a big headache for our PM and his Administration.

I wonder how are they going to cope with that since what is happening is just unprecedented.

Well, I wanted to get a glimpse of what Anwar usually says at the ceramahs, but I end up watching the video clip almost entirely. (Boleh cari sendiri kat Youtube).

  • I bet you if 10 people were to watch just one of Anwar's ceramahs, maybe 7 will be influenced by what he says. Anwar has this God-given ability to captivate his audience. And he knows that.

  • I notice that at the heart of his campaign is to paint the BN Government as corrupt and rotten. Every ceramah I think will have this as their main driving point.

  • Anwar strikes your emotions. (This is what you call the Politics of Emotion. Politics of Hatred is a subset of that).

  • But when the Government responds back, it uses the Politics of the Mind. (Using Rationality).

  • (Politics of Love pun ada juga.  But the message is more in tune for the aged in UMNO, where the love to the race, party and country is being inculcated).

Now which is a more powerful weapon? Striking your emotions or appealing to your rational mind?

Think, think, think .

(Obviously, strking one's emotion is a far more powerful weapon. It's far more long lasting .)

What am I trying to say?

  • Basically, it's a "ONE-WAY STREET" for those who have been influenced by Anwar's message.

  • Meaning, once you enter (Pakatan), you will never return (to BN).

  • Unless there is a very strong reason created by BN for them to do so.

Why is Anwar's message so powerful?

  • Well, you have to analyse the core of his message further.

What is his core message?

  • The way I see it is that he's saying that what you rakyat are getting are peanuts, compared to the millions or billions being squandered by our leaders. (we set aside the issue whether there is truth or otherwise in such a statement).

  • If the rakyat termakan that hasutan, then basically it becomes a "one-way street". This is what I'm saying.

  • So kalau BN bagi BR1M ke, organise macam-macam events ke or bla, bla, bla, .they will take it, but will still not vote for BN! This is the reality that BN will have to face.

(Lagi satu benda. In the past, the Opposition used to focus the attack on the leader instead of the party. But in the 2004 GE where the Opposition got almost annihilated following the change of leadership from Tun Dr. M to Paklah,  , I think they become smarter. Instead of just focusing the attack on the leader, after that, the focus has been more on the PARTY/COALITION. So that even if there is a change of leadership in BN, the negative impact to them will be minimal. They don't want something like in GE 2004 happening again).

  • That is why I suspect Anwar is so confident of capturing Putrajaya in the last GE because he believes his message can resonate with the rakyat.

  • The only reason he failed to capture Putrajaya is because  he couldn't get his message across to the rural folks (i.e mereka tak termakan hasutan).  Since the mainstream media is controlled by BN.

  • But he did manage to create some big damage in BN's strongholds like Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

  • So in the next GE, his focus of attack will be the rural folks. And he has a good chance in succeeding.

Why?

  • If there is a free media, there is practically NO defense for BN to counter Anwar's core message. (that is why the Opposition parties are insisting on free and fair media!)

  • Kalau bagi BR1m dll pun tak akan jalan, if rakyat dah termakan hasutan!

  • Remember, it's politics of hatred, strikes one's emotions, becomes a "one-way street", unless BN gives them a very good reason to make a "U-turn".

That's why I said before that BN and even the Govt, kena overhaul the way they do things. Begin with the people, only then the processes. If not, in  GE-14 BN akan kena hit bigtime.  But if you still have the Kassim Babas as part of the Govt, memang susahlah BN .Tukar nama BN atau merge semua component parties  pun, tak akan jalan

I rest my case.

Salam,

Don
