Hi, people. The console dock by Aleix Pol has been committed to SVN.
This is a nice new feature for KTurtle which adds an interactive console
to the program, and allows entering of one line commands, very useful to
teach about each individual command and see the result immediately on
the canvas.
I did some testing, wired it up to the UI and rc files as well, and it
seems to be working nice. Please test it, I think it will be a nice
addition for 4.1, and a quick way to test the interpreter as well.
Speaking about the intepreter, Niels, I could no longer reproduce the
problem I was seeing with flocke, it seems to have disappeared by
itself? I will keep investigating it and will let you know.

On a side note, I think it will be good if we move to use
kde...@kde.org (CC'ed in this email) to keep track of the KTurtle
development issues, if you guys do not mind. This avoids the need for
developers to have one more id and group to monitor, and keeps us more
linked to the main KDE Edu developer group (Aleix for example.) They can
helps us in more than one way, not only with code like this console tab,
but with documentation and testing as well, for example. Anyway, I will
keep monitoring the google group, just to be sure we do not miss anything :)

I have added some of the small features we can try to get in for 4.1 at
the feature plan list:

http://techbase.kde.org/index.php?title=Schedules/KDE4/4.1_Feature_Plan

As you can see, there are only three items: one is the command line
functionality added by this recent commit. The other two are support for
saving the canvas as an image, and adding an option ruler to the canvas
so students can visualize the units. Not sure when/if I will be able to
work on this, people are free to jump in and help us on these and other
tasks.

i just committed my rewritten version of the console.
the console as committed earlier had loads of issues:
- error handling
- possible to execute inside and other executions causing 'unexpected behavior'
- taking up way to much space on the gui
- licensed gpl2

all issue fixed, one remaining:
- i've put the consoles error message (if any) in a tooltip, but i
cant get it to show for like a second when it errors out.

Aleix Pol if you're reading: thanks for the commit, it helped me to
implement it a lot faster. if you want i can add you to the authors of
the console code -- as i rewrote it i did not put your name there
mainly to deal efficiently with he gpl2 issue.

thanks peeps.

I think this was just an oversight, as code in KDE4 needs to be GPL2 and
GPL3. Aleix, is it ok to relicense it to match the code of the rest of
KTurtle?
