Hi Mini...
I am doing it.  I hope it will be good promo but Bala might have better info on this.  I have only 15 subjects - 1 assistant and 2 graders.  This is the 2nd month, I hope it will be better soon.

My field rep took me for Lunch and gave me a CD to try to convince me regarding the promotion :) The result of the March Open House were spectacularly unsuccessful, so
I have not decided! What are your thoughts, Mini?

I have 41 subjects and 4 graders. 1 assistant does PI only, 1 assistant only for EL and 2 for main classroom grading. I walk around "observing and guiding students". I have time-slotted only the EL and PI students. Can you share what you do in terms of assistants and time-slotting?

Hi,

I did not do the March Open House. It seems that it was a promotion in
the US because our branch ladies did not even mention such thing :)

I see that you guys have realized that the PI and EL are costly and
will require a lot of assitant time. I have over 60 students now and 5
assistants but I do not think that I would hire more assistants until
about 90 kids or so. We will see.

I have a check-in assistant now that takes care of answering phone,
data entry, pull & prep and all the other extra stuff in the center. I
have one assistant that does grading onyl (for now) and one that does
both grading and EL/PI. The other two do mostly EL/PI. One of them is
really motivated and does everything without me even telling her. I
was blessed :) I had to FIRE two assistants too. One of them was
trying to win a texting competiotion on her phone and that did not go
with my rules :D

I am still not making that much money though. You see that a lot goes
for payroll now :(

take care everyone and hope to see you soon :)

Ben & Bala

Thanks for giving great insight into your center operation.

I currently have 85 students. 2 assistants that do only grading. 3 that grade and work as EL and PI instructors, as needed. 1 more for data entry.

I feel that I need a math teacher in the center as middle school students getting into new math levels, need help and that eats up my time.

Most of the assistants are going to college in August. So the entire staff changes mid August. I would look for more permanent staff but that costs more.

Please let me know if you are using Supplemental aides like flash cards and magnetic boards. I have not used anything till now but I feel that Reading Flash cards and sound charts will help some early learners.

I am thinking of ordering them with my next supplies.

Mini - great to hear. You inspired us. We use flash cards for EL reading. Nothing else. See the ops manual. Nothing else recommended during class. Also only the instructor is supposed to assist students. I know it is hard. Try to introduce a new concept in class only and ensure ll students read and understand examples before working. Try to hire 10th graders.

Have a bunch of acupuncture needles in my body so have to stop!
