Hi...
Has anyone ever watch this documentary: Race to Nowhere, The Dark Side of America’s Achievement Culture? PTO from our school invited everyone in our town who have children to go watch this at the school.  I think it's about the children studied too hard and compete too much, somthing like that.  What do you guys think?

Supark,

Thanks for the heads-up. I am going today to a local school - I got a
prominent local doctor and religious leader (whose 3 kids come to our
other center) to set up the meeting. I was prepping for the meeting by
looking at their website and the first thing I saw was that they are
hosting this documentary!! So, I think a lot of people are going to
watch. Our response should be a) see the documentary b) explain our
core values and show that Kumon will actually help family life by
making a happier learner out of their child. I will send the
information to the PR Department in Kumon (it is headed up by Jenny
Cherrytree who traveled with us to Mexico) and see whether Kumon has
an official response that they can advise instructors to use.

First Open House this Saturday.

Cheers/Bala

Bala,
Thanks, I also watched the interview between the director and Katie Couric, she mentioned in the beginning that she sent her children to Kumon and violin. She said all these activities later became a toll to her daughter. Then she realized that they had too much work to do to compete with other kids. I did not watch the documentary yet. I will try to find it online.
