MY county affiliate, San Juan County NM, gave the Bobarrians SCORCHED
EARTH. I know this is not a very popular stand here, but it was
principled. LP-SJC has for 20 years consistently been the most active
affiliate in New Mexico. But everbody here is so embarrassed by Barr
that shortly after the Denver convention, all activities other than
social were cancelled until after the election. No meetings. No
candidates. No monthly outreach booth. No county fair. Nada. No
Vichy-lino here, although they have a firm hold on the state party.

have any thoughts on it?

PRESS RELEASE
8/20/2008

*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASDE ***

Oregon Libertarians expel dissenters

Libertarian Party officials expel non-supportive members!

On 8/20/2008 The Libertarian Party of Oregon along side with the Bob
Barr for President campaign has made moves to expel members who do
not support the parties presidential candidate.

Party member Richard Burke, who is also the regional coordinator for
Bob Barr's campaign, along side with Joseph Cornwall the State
Coordinator and the State Party Vice Chair, have made moves to
terminate the membership of Ron Boozell, who opposes Bob Barr's
nomination as the parties Presidential candidate and who is also the
chair of the Libertarian party in Deschutes county.

Ron Boozell claims that the Oregon delegation to the National party
convention, where Bob Barr was nominated, was split in their votes
for Bob Barr preferring a different presidential candidate. Ron
Boozell states that he asked his county party if they where to
endorse the Bob Barr candidacy and the answer was NO.

Richard Burke says that the Party bylaws mandate that all members
support the national candidate and that by violating the bylaw is
grounds for membership termination.

The Bob Barr campain can be contacted at:
(800) Bob Barr (business hours)
(202) 731-0002 (Andrew Davis, Media Coordinator)
The Libertarian Party of Oregon Contact:
503-245-5942

I have checked it out and it appears that there where some emails by
Richard Burke to the Chair to remove members who voice support
against Bob Barr. When I asked Shane Cory about this he said that he
has instructed his staff to no longer pursue this course of action.
Could the Barr campaign really be seeking to silence LP radicals and
other freedom loving Individuals.

Mark
