Hi Guys:

It has been a long time since anyone posted on here.

It has now been a little over a year since WOTC stopped producing SWM.   But many fans/gamers have continued the game.   Some simple changes to the rules and better faction balance have made the game more fun than ever.

In addtion, SWMGAMERS has produced a great V-set, and currently are working on V-set 2.   The nice thing about this is that it is a lot cheaper to stay involved with the game than ever before.   If you are interested in donating to the V-2 set, let me know and I will point you to the appropriate discussion board.

Ben and I still play from time to time.    If you are interested in getting together to play, please post on this googlegroup, and we will set something up.   I would be glad to bring the figs and cards.

I want to play when I visit this summer.

What is the V-1 V-2?

I miss you guys and the game.  I opened my long sealed storage box and about passed out from the outgassing of the plastic!  Toxic they are.

I assume V-1 & V-2 are "virtual sets".

Probably new cards or rules text used with old miniatures.

I'd like to hear from someone that really knows as well though.

Yes, V stands for virtual.

Gamers has already distributed all produced sets for set V-1.      Here is the link to download a pdf of V-1
http://www.swmgamers.com/e107_files/downloads/dotf.pdf

The "recommended mini" is shown on the card.  For instance, if you want to use the new Darth Revan's recommended mini is the Darth Revan figure from TheForceUnleashed.

Regionals and Gencon are following the revised SWM rules.   The floor rules and Errata can be found at http://www.swmgamers.com/page.php?27

If you want to get your own card set of V-2, you should follow the instructions at http://www.swmgamers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11383   Please note that you may have to register/log-in before the link will work for you.

Yeah, V-Set 1 and 2 are virtual sets produced by some of the best players in the country.  Frankly, they are much better than anything Wizards produced for years--for instance, if you like Darth Revan, Bastila, or the Mandalorians, you'll be happy to know that you can finally build halfway decent squads with them.  The other cool thing is that the cards are supposed to be used with proxy pieces, so even if you haven't played in a while, your old pieces are likely to work with a lot of the new stuff.  You can download V-Set One here and check it out:
http://www.swmgamers.com/page.php?43

They've also been distributing nice-looking cards of the new sets.  The V-Set 1 cards are long gone, but they are currently doing fund-raising for V-Set 2, which will be released in August.  Apparently with this one, there will be a 60-card set, along with an additional 12-card "Epic" subset (which will apparently all be figs worth over 100 points) and a 10-card "Battle of Theed" subset (I'm not exactly sure what this will entail).  So, all told, 82 cards in the new set.  If you would like to donate, 50 bucks guarantees that you'll get all the cards--the thread on Gamers with the link to the place to donate is here:

If you want a set, put your name on this thread so that I know to make sure to get a set for you at Gencon (I'm the distribution guy for Missouri, and if you're in metro KC on the Kansas side, feel free to go through me as well).  It's pretty likely that you'll need to donate if you want a set of the cards, but it is possible they will have extras.  And whether you donate or not to get the nice, professional looking cards, you will still be able to download everything for free from the website:

So yeah, I really like the new stuff--honestly I think the game is more playable and interesting now than it was when Wizards was in charge, and it is sad that we don't have much going on locally any more.  But I do encourage you to go look at/download the V-Set One cards.  I think you'll be impressed with what you find.

Oh, and the Missouri Regional Championships are in Bolivar on June 11.  If you can make it, it should be a lot of fun.

The look awesome.  Would love to get a set of cards.

I'll have to get on the donation list for the next set.

Thanks for all the information.

Hey - while you guys are being active - anyone into Heroscape or the D&D minis?

I want to make a stripped down RPG based on the old D&D Basic Ed for my daughter, but I thought adding the visuals of monsters etc would be good for her. Unlike SW, where commons are super cheap, it's hard to find a cheap lot of D&D minis. I guess people want and need 100 kobolds. So is there anyone with extras they could sell/trade? Rarity really isn't important to me - just a mix of classic fantasy archetypes.  In my search on ebay, some of the Heroscape line would probably suite me well.

It's weird that the plastic minis are more sought after than the old Ral Partha miniatures - which I thought were keen back in the day.
