I am currently looking for a small acoustic combo amp that I can use
for solo gigs at coffeehouses and the like. I know Rick Malsick and
Jim Herrmann have the Marshall AS50Rs, which are nice, but they're
not being made anymore, and the successor, the AS50D, looks to be
about $390.00.

Right now, I'm considering the Crate CA-15. About $150.00, has two
independent-gain inputs, and the reviews posted at Musician's
Friend's Web site indicate it would have enough volume for the kind
of act I do. And, it's made in America.

The only drawback seems to be that both inputs are quarter-inch
plugs, so I'd have to use an adapter for the mic. Doesn't seem to be
that much of an obstacle.

Anyone have any advice -- sane, insane, or inane -- to offer?
