Welcome Kansas City Songwriters!

Let's make this list a place where we can talk about song ideas, collaborations, gigs, venues, techniques, and life in general.  I look forward to your participation.

I'm the owner of the list, so if you have any problems using the list let me know.  David Hakan is also a list manager, so he might be able to help you out as well, if for some reason I'm unavailable.

Let's talk!

Peace,
Jim Herrmann

David and I are working on building a venue data base that will have address, contact, and pay information.  I have something setup on my web site http://jim.musicalprogress.org that we're trying out.  If you are interested in helping develop this venue data base, just go to that web site, and let me know.  I will set you up to be able to edit and use the venue data base.  We'll see if this will work for us.

Also, you'll see a KC Songwriter Google calender.  I'll add you as a manager of that calendar, so that you can put your events on it.  Any other songwriter that wants to post on that calendar just has to ask.

Peace,
Jim

Good idea, Jim. I'll be settling into my new work schedule over the
next couple of weeks. Once I know when I'm available I should be able
to give you a hand with some things. This site should be a real help
to all of us, especially as more people get involved and offer their
ideas. Plus, it may ease the burden that David has been carrying
around for the last dozen+ years...lol...David has been the powerhouse
running the entire KC operation. He's got as much fire now as he had
when I met him almost ten years ago, but I'm sure he'd appreciate some
releif. Several of us have tried to help him where we can, but maybe
now we can actually get arrange things so that some responsibilities
are almost always covered. I can tell you for a fact that without
David Haken, I would likely still just be playing some libraries every
month or so and still have very little, if any, contact with other
musicians/songwriters. David is the link for all of it. Without him,
there would be nothing. None of our friendships, gigs, venues,
songwriting. Nothing. He is the heart of this entire thing. He is
why it is happening. He's one hell of a good human
being....lol...Sorry, I digress, but this has been on my mind for the
last five years. I was thinking of it again the other night at The
Corbin when I saw Forrect Whitlow. If not for David, I'd have never
met Forrest. Never. Hell, I'd have never met you, or John, or Paula,
or Kay, Jim Kurtz, Fran Windler, etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.....Anyway,
I'm rambling...thanks for listening................A gig list is a good
start..........Have you got Jim Abel's email? I suspect he'd be
interested in this too. He's another good guy with the name of
"Jim."........Talk at you later......Larry

You should invite any songwriters you know.  I invited the email addresses I had.  If you have others, please send them to http://groups.google.com/group/kcsongwriters , or have them send me an email at this address, or the jim at musicalprogress.org address and I will add them.

Your absolutely right about David.  He's the reason that there is a songwriter scene in Kansas City.  Thanks David!

Peace,
Jim
