Good morning, everyone!
Well, as you have noticed, KCQRP has not been very active as of late.
I think it is time to do something about that. Therefore, I am
proposing that we have some sort of a get-together here soon and try
to get this thing rolling again. I am open for suggestions on when/
where to meet. In the past we had been meeting on the first Saturday
of the month at a restaurant, normally Anthony's downtown, as it was a
pretty central location for everyone throughout the city. Other places
would be good as well, so if you have a suggestion let me know. We
also do not have to stick with the "first Saturday" rule either.
So, Let's plan on having a KCQRP get together on September 12, 2009 at
2:00 PM. We can come up with a location between now and then.

Some new gear has been added on this end. First, I added a K3 back in
March. What a radio! It is the 10W version (like there is a need for
more) and I also put the sub receiver in it. The thing really works
like a champ, and it was a pleasure to use on Field Day. As soon as I
get some more money saved up, I am really thinking about buying
another for FD next year.
At Ozarkcon I picked up a Weber Dual Band from QRPKITS.com. Had it put
together in a few days, but had an issue with it until this past week.
I then discovered that I had two toroids in wrong. Fixing the
orientation of those fixed the rig. Still have not had any Qs with it,
but will be fixing that shortly. It is a nice little rig - any two
bands you want. KD1JV is working on putting the thing onto 4 or more
bands as well using plug in modules.
Finally, last weekend was the Ft. Tuthill QRP Cactus Con put on by
AZsQRPions. QRZ.com was there and interviewed W5JH, the maker of the
Black Widow Paddles. In this interview he talks about some paddles he
makes for the QRPKITS.com PFR3 and then he talked a bit about having
the key for the KX1 as well. I plunked down the needed funds and
ordered the KX1 model immediately. It arrived four days later, and I
had it together in about an hour. It works like a champ! So, if you
are needing a key that plugs into the KX1 (or the PFR-3) I seriously
suggest going this route. The things are only $46.50, and you can use
them on other rigs as well. Check them out at
