(This is just a general blast out to the KC developer community, feel free to forward this to anyone you know.  KC Ruby people, this isn't Ruby related, but hoping either you Ruby/PHP hybrids or a PHP developer you may know might be interested)

As some of you know, I just recently accepted a job with Yahoo at their Santa Monica office.  My departure leaves a pretty big hole with my current company, so finding a replacement over the next couple weeks one of my top priorities.  If you, or anyone you know might be interested in this position, please let me know. Thanks!

What we're looking for:
A developer with 3+ years of object-oriented PHP experience.  There will also be the need for some JavaScripting, and for that we use jQuery.  As a "lead developer", this person is also in charge of a few linux servers, so they would need to know how to admin them, along with managing source code repositories (Subversion).  Knowledge of running a site powered by MySQL/PostgreSQL is also very important.

Bonus qualifications:
- Experience building/using RESTful APIs
- Experience fine-tuning Linux servers, Apache, and PostgreSQL
- Experience with cloud computing (Amazon Web Services) and virtual servers
- Experience building social networking / social media websites
- Experience with various audio/video codecs and encoding software such as FFMPEG and Mencoder
- Experience scaling out a website and various caching techniques
- Experience with search index software (such as Lucene)
- Experience managing a team of developers
- Experience with various PHP frameworks.  We don't use any specific one in particular, but rather a custom built framework that is inspired by the best parts of many.
- Experience developing mobile applications (iPhone, Android, WebOS, etc...)

I've worked here for 2.5 years and it's been an incredible experience!  Startups are fun, and we're very casual.  Working from home is often an option and we allow flexible hours.  I wouldn't have considered working for anyone else in the Kansas City area, and the only reason I'm leaving is because, well... it is Yahoo.  I wouldn't have the skillset & qualifications needed to work at a company like Yahoo had this job not challenged me every single day.  So if you are passionate about developing awesome websites, experimenting with new technologies, and love solving problems, this is a great opportunity.

If interested, please send your resume to te...@mycatholicvoice.com
