All,

I just wanted to let everyone know that some of us met last night and we will be planning on a June meeting.

If you are interested in being part of the planning group still, and Scott or Fred haven't contacted you yet, please reply here so they have your information. We are going to try a little committee approach and see if we can revive this group.

That is all for now, more details will follow.

At this point, no. We are waiting to hear back from the final speaker from Spring Source. Right now it looks like the 20th of June at Garmin International in Olathe, KS (1200 E 151st St, Olathe,KS 66062). Once I can finalize it, I will post.

All,

Here are the details of the meeting for June:

Speaker:  Tim Dalsing from SpingSource/VMWare will speak about Gemfire.

What is it, what benefits does it offer, how does one get started with it. He is extremely knowledgeable so I expect the group to push

the conversation and Tim will respond accordingly. Still waiting on hearing about the other guy from SpingSource.

Meeting will be at Garmin, June 20th. 1200 E 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062. North Lobby Entrance (we will be in the auditorium).

Networking will begin at 6 and the Meeting at 7.

Garmin will be providing food, door prizes, and of course the meeting space. RSVPs requested.

I have the bio and abstract from Tim:

Bio:

Tim Dalsing is a consultant with VMware’s vFabric division, which includes Gemfire, Spring Framework, and Rabbit MQ.  Tim has 20 years of software industry experience, including Java, J2EE, Spring, and C++.  His Java experience spans the entire history of Java, beginning with the early days of version 1.0 to current enterprise-class technologies.  Tim has worked in many different capacities, including architecture, design, development, and consulting.

Abstract:

Tim will discuss VMware’s distributed caching and persistence solution, Gemfire.  He will describe the architecture and design of Gemfire and how it can be used to build large, complex systems that can scale to terabytes of data and massive transaction volumes.

I thought there was a Meetup group now but I couldn't find it. Did I dream that?

It would be easier to keep track of meetings if we used MeetUp. I'll absolutely be there as time permits though.

Tonight was a spectacular meeting. Thanks go out to the sponsor, speaker and coordinators.

There have been quite a few requests for support on meetup.com so and your voices have been heard. There is a meetup group at the below address where meetings will be posted on the calendar. The group also has an email alias.
http://www.meetup.com/kcjava/

There is also a linkedin kcjava group and matching facebook.

If your email takes awhile to post, please be patient. There have been some abuse issues and posts are now moderated.
