I just want to shout some topic how to control mulitple hardware PC using 1 keyboard and 1 mouse without using KVM Switch hardware
Scenario:
If you have 2 or more computer with different operating system and different types of hardware but want to use 1 keyboard and 1 mouse to control everything, what should you do?
My approach is like this:
Instead of buying a KVM switch for able to use 1 keyboard and 1 mouse across to multiple PC, you can use an opensource KVM Software. Before, I used KVM Switch to control multiple PC using 1 keyboard and 1 mouse, but I dislike the process, because everytime you want to switch to another PC, you need to press the KVM switch in from of you and the mouse and keyboard will enable to active PC. But now, I've been using a KVM Software which is an open source and free and it's up to you to donate. :D I used Synergy software to control my Mac, Windows XP64, Open Solaris running on different machine. One of the reason I am still using hardware instead of my virtual box because you can't emulate the real computing during stress testing especially the smoke testing approach and I also do my ACID testing on the OpenSolaris for the Database.
I am not sure if you're interested about it, but it helps me a lot because I don't need to use many keyboard at my desk while doing some coding, testing (smoke testing & sanity testing).
My question, is there any one here ever try to use any KVM software except Synergy?
Synergy
http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/By the way, this is part of my daily routine on creating a fast, reliable, secured enterprise
application in the J2EE World. I am on the J2EE development ( Socket
programming, SMS (Short Messaging System - using AT commands) for Text
Message, Web Development using Spring, Hibernate Annotation, Flex, Wicket, MINA, and many more.)
Thanks,
