Dear Peacemakers,

 

We all know that the “Rich Are Getting Richer And The Poor Poorer,” but how crooked does it have to get before enough people rise up and make it change?

 

The game is rigged and the greedy are not satisfied. With loop holes and other tax dodges the nominal US corporate income tax rate of 35% turns into an average corporate tax payment rate of 12.1% (Congressional Budget Office).

 

But that’s not enough, corporate lobbyist are working to reduce the statutory rate to 28 percent. And they are using their tax savings to do even more lobbying and contributing to Super PACs to gain more control of the government!

 

(Don’t get me wrong – there are many corporations who are good corporate citizens – unfortunately they have to compete with those who are not.)

 

Continuing the tax race to the bottom will only lead to:

  • more of the costs of essential government services being put on the backs of the middle class and the poor,
  • more cuts to services which are necessary to get people back to work
  • more cuts to government jobs in the name of austerity

Help us deliver overdue tax bills to three tax dodging corporations. One of which, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), was one of the 2010 top 20 Pentagon Contractor. Between 2008 and 2010 CSC earned over $1.6 Billion but had a negative 18.3% income tax (receiving a $305 million rebate)! At the same time CSC spent over $4 million on lobbying the U.S. government. The other tax dodging corporations we will visit are Bank of America and Great Plains Energy (KCP & L’s parent company).

 

The Causes Of Our Economic Suffering Are:

·         Tax Cheating Corporations and Ultra-Rich Tax Dodgers;

·         Financial Speculation and Policies Favoring 1%; and

·         Excessive Military Spending Instead of Investment in the Future!

 

We say: NO CUTS to Social Programs and Job Creation

and YES to Corporations and the 1% Paying Their Fair Share!

 

Join us for: a parade to the offending corporate offices; delivery of overdue tax bills; street theater; leafleting, vigiling and more.

We will have Billionaires for No Taxes, Lady Liberty, Uncle Sam

And We Hope You Too.
