Subject: Fw: NNSA is calling all
supporters; let's show up Jan. 14!
Dear Friends,
What's below (thanks to Tom Klammer of KKFI, 90.1 FM, who forwarded this) shows that NNSA/Honeywell has alerted its friends to the City Hall meeting Jan. 14, 9 a.m., 10th floor committee room. I've e-mailed most of you earlier about the meeting; this just gives added impetus to our effort to attend and speak up -- and to come early (it's a smallish room, seating's scarce).
The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of the City Council will undoubtedly pass the development plan at that 9 a.m. meeting for the new KC Plant, which makes non-nuclear parts for nukes. This is the last meeting where we can speak up at City Hall against the development plan. In the afternoon, those of us who can attend will attend the 2 City Council sessions that will pertain to the plan: a 1:30 business session on 10th floor and a 3 p.m. regular session on 26th floor where the council will undoubtedly vote for the plan. The council doesn't let citizens speak at its meetings.
If you'd like to speak at the committee meeting at 9, it'd be great if you put in writing the gist of what you'll say, so you can turn it in and ask for it to be incorporated in the proceedings of the meeting. If you already know what topic you want to address, pls. call me and let me know -- the powers that be won't want us to duplicate info. Don't let these requests stop you from coming to the meeting, tho.
Many thanks for trying to make a strong showing Jan. 14!
Please also keep in mind the Jan. 20 meeting at 34th & Harrison, a 6 p.m. potluck to discuss continued opposition to the new nuke-parts factory.
Peace! Jane Stoever, 913-206-4088

Hi Tom,
I know you're following this issue. The Trailside Center is supposedly a civic organization (http://www.trailsidecenter.org/about.html) but they function as a tool of the 6th district council people, in this case, in league with the South K.C. Chamber of Commerce.
You might spread the word that Cm. Jolly
will validate parking in the garage across the street from City Hall. ![]()
