KCGAC Irishfest Plans

One of the more exciting weekends of the year for the club is quickly coming upon us as the whole city makes the annual pilgramage to Crown Center over Labor Day weekend for Irishfest! We're planning to make this year's one of the most productive yet as we'll have the whole club out there instead of going to Nationals.

Irishfest will provide the crowds, the music, the activities, and the traditional array of super-healthy food and libations. The other aspects of a good time are up to you and your fellow Wolfhounds! When we've had our most "successful" Irishfests (i.e. - fun and bringing in some great new members) it's been because a lot of us have been out there together at the same time.

With that in mind we're going to change up what we've traditionally done at the fest, particularly in terms of recruiting purposes. Instead of just having a booth with a few individuals at a time hanging around and answering questions for those that happen by we're going to focus on just two time periods: 2pm-7pm on both Saturday and Sunday. This will give more club members the chance to demonstrate and play the sports as well as wander further out into the crowd and meet people. We'll keep a "skeleton" crew at the both for Friday night and the hour or two before and after our core period, but would like club members to sign up for the 2pm-7pm periods unless you're unavailable to help out then.

We realize it's a busy weekend, and a lot of people will have family obligations, but if you can make even an hour or two to help out with the club it will help kick start the tremendous events we've got in store for our new permanent home field as we finish up this season.

One other important scheduling note for Irishfest weekend - the All-Ireland Football Semi-finals will be shown in the Culture Tent of the fest at 9:30am the morning of Sunday, August 31st. This is a free event and does not require a ticket to the fest.
