Reminder: Submit KC Dems Questionnaire: If you’re not one of the 150+ campaigns who have submitted a KC Dems questionnaire, the first deadline (to be eligible for consideration at our May 27th meeting) is tonight at midnight.  Submission info is linked from: https://www.kcdems.org/our-party/e/2021-endorsements/ 

 

LD Dems Endorsements this week: Many local legislative district (LD) Democrats organizations are voting on primary endorsements this week.  You can find a volunteer-compiled list at: https://www.kcdems.org/candidate-resources/

 

What to Expect at Thursday KC Dems Meeting: This Thu, 5/27, the ~60-person KC Dems Executive Committee (KCDEC) will vote on recommendations from the KC Dems Endorsements Committee.  The KC Dems Endorsements Committee Report is at: https://www.kcdems.org/endorsements-report/

  • If you’re recommended – Congratulations on your recommendation!  Your endorsement will require a majority vote.  You may want to line-up 1-2 KCDEC members to speak in support of your endorsement.
  • If you’re running in a single-LD jurisdiction and not (yet) recommended – You should seek the endorsement of your LD Dems org.  This is a prerequisite to being endorsed by KC Dems.
  • If you’re running in a multi-LD jurisdiction and not (yet) recommended - You should seek the endorsements of the LD Dems orgs that include your jurisdiction. 
  • If someone else is recommended for your race – You can seek-out a member of the KCDEC to request independent consideration of your race.  If a majority do not vote for endorsement of the other candidate, you have completed a questionnaire by tonight, your race is open to a motion (and second) to endorse you.

A: The KCDCC Executive Board of approximately 60 people.  This is the elected KCDCC officers, LD Dems Chairs, King County Young Democrats (KCYD) Chair, and up to two representatives from each LD Dems organization and KCYD.  See Bylaws Section 7.2. A: If your campaign needs to re-request a copy of your questionnaire, please submit a request.

A: No, King County Democrats does not maintain a list of recommend or preferred staff, however we maintain a list of Campaign Consultants, Campaign Treasurers, and Campaign Managers available for hire on our Candidate Resources page.

Filing closes tomorrow – Filing for office with King County Elections is open now through Fri, 5/21 at 4:00 PM.  ACTION: If you have not yet filed, you should do so ASAP: https://kingcounty.gov/depts/elections/for-candidates/online-candidate-filing.aspx  340 positions are up for election and 27 are wide open as of this afternoon.

Primary Endorsements Vote Date: Thu, 5/27 – The King County Democrats Executive Committee will vote on primary endorsements recommendations on Thursday, 5/27.  We have over 110 questionnaires started, over 50 questionnaires submitted, and anticipate a total of 150-200 candidates will seek endorsement.
