 Job Opening: Staff Technical Director

 Viterbo University is searching for a staff Technical Director to join our talented university and performing arts venue team in the Conservatory for the Performing Arts. This full-time, salaried position will find you working on a range of projects including theatrical productions, opera, dance concerts, music concerts and recitals, touring productions and other events presented in our Fine Arts Center and at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts in downtown La Crosse.

 Salary range: $50,000-55,000

 Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise as a technical director.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Knowledge of current safety protocols and practices.
  • Ability to follow instructions and remain professional under pressure.
  • Advise production teams on feasibility, cost, and equipment capabilities.
  • Operate, maintain, and safeguard technical assets.
  • Make recommendations regarding replacement of equipment when required.
  • Assist with the build and installation of scenery.
  • Supervise or assist with tech week and load-in/load-out processes for all productions.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of student workers, volunteers and/or paid technical staff.
  • Ensure proper safety measures are in place and followed.
  • Be familiar with emergency evacuation plans and execute if needed
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Demonstrate collegiality and an ability to build strong working relationships with students, colleagues, guest artists, and the public.
  •  Must be authorized to work in the United States. Viterbo University is unable to sponsor or take over the sponsorship of the Employment Visa.
