I hope everyone is doing well after this trying semester. This isn't the message I planned to send this summer as I stepped into the regional chair position, but the reality of our current situation calls for a detour from our practiced formalities and updates.
At the bottom of this email is a statement from the KCACTF National Committee and the National Office of KCACTF regarding activities for 2020, and the 2021 festivals. As you will read in the statement below, “There will be no in-person regional festivals in 2021.” However, all regions, including region three are still planning to have virtual festivals and are exploring ways to incorporate all elements of our traditional regional festivals, along with creating new innovations to uphold the missions of our organization. KCACTF is committed to celebrating students' achievements and the innovative work of our faculty and staff.
In the coming weeks we will be holding Zoom town halls to discuss these changes with you. I plan to create meetings for both faculty and students in the region. Look for this information after June 2.
Currently our leaders at the Kennedy Center are furloughed, but I can take all questions you might have for them. I will be able to share the questions at a later date and I will get responses to you once the leadership team is reactivated.
In light of all of this unfortunate news, I am calling on you to come together to demonstrate our love for our art form and the resilience necessary to keep it alive. I look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully seeing you at the town halls in the coming weeks. Please email me with any questions or concerns at
region...@kcactf.orgPlease take care of yourselves and stay strong.
