word at the Studio is that a lot of that $3 a skein yarn is being
bought by devoted prayer shawl (hat, scarf, etc) makers, so I am
betting that we will be seeing some colorful shawls soon. I am
leading a Prayer Shawl Ministry session on Sunday morning, January 27,
at the Studio Winter Retreat at the Elms and also requesting stash
yarn from participants at the retreat--the incentive being that if
they donate yarn, they get their name in a drawing for valuable prizes
(to be named later.) Hopefully, this will fill our Prayer Shawl stash
at the Studio, which has been emptying out oh so quickly.
Don't know about the retreat? Check out the Studio website.
Sister Annnie told me that the shawls I picked up at the Studio in
early December went to some women who are in drug and alcohol
recovery. I receive thank you notes from Sr. Annie every time I drop
off shawls, I plan to start taping them inside the lid of our Studio
stash so others can enjoy them.
I am knitting a shawl for my mother-in-law --- she is really my
sister's mother-in-law, but she adopted me a couple of years ago
because I never had a mother-in-law. She is the mother of the man I
made the red cabled shawl for--he died in early november. I meant to
have it done for Christmas, but holiday madness intervened. I hope to
send it with my sister when she comes for the Studio retreat.
