Dear Studio Prayer Shawl Makers,
I wanted to let you all know that even tho' I have been unable to
participate in person in leading the Prayer Shawl Ministry this summer
for personal health reasons, I am still here behind the scenes. I
have picked up and delivered numerous shawls to House of Menuha and
with the help of Sarah and Laura Gayle at the Studio, have established
the ministry's own "home" in the newly spiffed up downstairs of the
shop. Last Sunday, I came and put up a bulletin board that everyone
can use to communicate back and forth. I am posting thank you notes
there from Sister Annie and using the drawers to hold occasional
surprises. And there are two containers of yarn that magically empty
and fill for your shawl making pleasure.
As for myself, it has been a bit of a struggle for awhile. I come
from a very large and extended Irish Catholic family, so as word
spread, I have been bombarded with prayers, even tho' I am not exactly
a prayerful person or even much of a believer. But this one, sent by
my sister, whom some of you met at the Elms Retreat, has helped me the
most. I share it with you because I think it has very broad
application for life in general.

We are quite naturally impatient in everything to reach the end

We are impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something
new
And yet it is the nature of all progress that it is made by passing
through some stage of instability and that it may take a very long
time.
And so I think it is with you; your ideas mature gradually--let them
grow. Let them shape themselves without undue haste.
Don't try to force them on, as tho' you could be today what time (that
is to say, grace & circumstances, acting on your own good will) will
make of you tomorrow.
Only God could say what this new spirit gradually forming within you
will be.
Give our Lord the benefit of believing that His hand is leading you
and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete.
