“Beautiful Pickle"
Cleopatra ate them to stay beautiful. Napoleon demanded them for the health and vitality of his army. Thomas Jefferson found great comfort in them on a hot day. Pickles. The 3 Link Gallery is hosting an exhibition in this time of harvest that literally takes pickled foods out of the cupboard puts then on a pedestal. “Beautiful Pickle”, celebrates preserved foods from heirloom recipes passed down generations to experiments by today’s culinary artists, visual artists, farmers, and foodies.

REQUIREMENTS:
Eligibility: Beautiful Pickle at the 3 Link Gallery is open to artists, chefs, farmers, and picklers of any occupation. Works may be of any pickling and visual art medium.
Sales: All works must be offered for sale. 20% of all proceeds will be donated to KC Food Circle. The artists/picklers and gallery will split the remaining proceeds and receive 40% each for sales of artwork. All works must be available though the entire exhibit. The works will be auctioned off from a silent auction in the gallery and on eBay. All bids made in the gallery will be updated on eBay.
Submissions: Works of art, traditional mediums, and those utilizing a pickling process of foods and nonfoods will be considered and judged based on creativity, originality and execution. Visual and culinary art in all mediums including video will be considered.
Up to 3 separate works may be submitted. Each work may consist of multiple pieces. For each work submitted please include:

JURORS: Regional visual, culinary, and agriculture artists will judge the entries. Works will be judged on visual criteria only. Tasting will not be judged in this exhibit.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all living and pickled people.
AWARDS: Cash and gift certificate awards from $50 to $250.
SHIPPING: Works must be shipped and/or delivered at the artist’s expense and if by third party shipping, properly and securely packed in reusable carton(s) or crate(s) to 3 LINK Gallery, 106 N. Bridge St., Smithville, MO 64089. Works may also be dropped off at the BADSEED, 1909 McGee, KCMO 64108. www.badseedkc.com, in the Crossroads Arts District on Fridays between 4pm and 9pm. Works must be shipped ready for installation. All 2-D works must be wired for hanging or use other gallery-appropriate hanging methods such as French cleats. Works must arrive by 5pm October 25, 2013. Artists are responsible for return shipping of art that is not sold and must provide pre-paid return shipping bills, including insurance if desired. Detailed instructions will be sent to those artists whose works are accepted by the jury.
