The Greater Kansas City Food Hub Working Group (http://www.kcfoodpolicy.org/food-hub-working-group) and the Douglas County Food Policy Council (http://www.douglas-county.com/depts/ad/su/su_fpc.aspx) are working together to explore the feasibility of developing food hubs in the region. These food hubs would purchase and aggregate regionally produced farm products (produce, grains, meat, dairy), and sell and distribute these goods to wholesale, retail and institutional customers throughout the region.
Your input through this survey is critical in enabling these organizations to (1) assess the viability of building a food hub in Greater Kansas City and/or in Northeast Kansas, (2) identify opportunities to support buyers in increasing access to regionally grown products, and (3) explore opportunities to coordinate efforts of new and existing participants in the regional food system.
The purpose of this survey is to gather interest, quantify demand, assess barriers and better understand preferences among customers who may be served by these regional food hubs. This survey will take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
Survey respondents will have the opportunity to see the results of the study and provide additional input through follow-up meetings. This is only a survey and your responses are not binding in any way. All survey information will be kept strictly confidential and responses will be reported in the aggregate only for the purposes of these feasibility studies.
