• Cannot plagiarise as students need to study for exam
• Healthy competition among peers in exam
• Grades obtained in exams is the passport to employment
• By doing exams, individual achievement and school accountability will be recognised
• Exams will motivate students and help rank them in terms of achievements

3. Below are some of the shortcomings of having an exam – oriented system * Tick the choice(s) you agree with

• Exams prevent students from thinking outside of the box. They become robotic
• Exam will lead to lack of analytical and communication skills among students
• Due to exams, only students with good grades will get the opportunity to get into good universities
• Study for exams just to get credit, not interest
• Exams are burdensome and fail to reflect student’s ability
