Odisha to position itself as an investment destination
Bhubaneswar, Dec 1
After facing a stiff resistance on the mega projects, now Odisha government is exploring the possibilities of tapping the global investment in the IT sector. The state government has accepted the request of InvestBhubaneswar to organize a mega event from December 18 to 20, 2010 to facilitate investment in Odisha.
The day symposium will show case the business potential in the state and present opportunities in Odisha for the investors to collaborate or partner. The Ind-US Entrepreneurs (TiE), US India Business Council (USIBC), XIMB, IITB and NROFC are the other major partners with InvestBhubaneswar to organize this global event.
Giving details about this symposium, Dhanada K. Mishra, convener, InvestBhubaneswar told www.bizodisha.com , “This symposium will facilitate state and local entrepreneurship. And, also it will showcase Odisha’s business potential internationally. Our ultimate objective is to brand Odisha as a investor friendly state. There will be a large delegation from USA, Japan and other countries those will experience states business potential.”
He further said in a statement, “We are holding a business idea contest for the entrepreneurs along the sideline of the event. Selected participants will get chance to present it before experts and investors. Participants can be get details from www.investbhubaneswar.in . “
This symposium is a follow up event, after a successful inaugural event of InvestBhubaneswar on July 1, 2010 at Palo Alto, CA, USA. When a 40 members team team from Odisha Government and private sector presented the state to local business captains. And, invited investors and attendees to visit the state in December this year.
Several internationally acclaimed entrepreneurs will share and present views to make Odisha investor friendly state. Some of the reputed speakers from the industry will be Subroto Bagchi, co-founder of Mindtree, Prakash Bhalerao, Venktesh Shukla, Chandra Reddy, Venture Capitalist, Silicon Valley, USA and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). Host of dignitaries from the country and abroad, prospective investors, business partners, industry leaders, Venture Capitalists will participate in the event.
The salient features of this event are:
• Focus on thrust areas, specific to state of Odisha - tourism, IT, infrastructure, higher education, energy and cleantech, mines and minerals.
• Meet the potential medium and small scale businesses looking for professional partnership and investment.
• Meet with key decision makers of the GoO on Private-Public Partnership (PPP) mode projects in the thrust areas.
• Meet with top industrialists and entrepreneurs around the state of Odisha.
