Dear KBA Community

It is good to see the strengthened cooperation between UNESCO and CITES on World Heritage Sites (WHS) and the trade in threatened species. Many threatened species that are listed on the CITES Appendices occur in WHS.

Do these landscapes provide an opportunity to identify Key Biodiversity Areas in World Heritage Sites and assess the effectiveness of protected and conserved areas therein against the IUCN Green List to ensure effectiveness and conservation outcomes; all contributing to the GBF Target 3?

See article here: https://whc.unesco.org/en/news/2585
