If you choose to open a folder while a solution is loaded, JetBrains Rider will suggest that you either close the current solution and open it in the current window or open the folder in a new application window.
Robotic Process Automation is software that is used to automate high volume, repeatable tasks. Over time enterprise systems develop better automation and users can do their job more effectively. But companies using legacy systems may have opportunities to use an external RPA solution to automate the work inside the legacy system. RPA's do this by performing the same computer keystrokes and opening the same modules humans do. Or in some cases, the robots write data right into the application database.
Ryder is using RPA to automate highly manual tasks associated with planning optimization in their legacy transportation management system (TMS). It is also used to examine carrier websites for appointment scheduling. There are application programming interfaces between their RPA and the TMS.
Ryder is one of the largest providers of managed transportation services. They have 6.7 billion in freight under management based on supporting 42 clients and optimizing 14 million loads per year. Doing managed trans well requires the use of a robust transportation management system. Ryder uses JDA. But their TMS is several versions behind the current version. They are looking to upgrade the solution, but in the meantime the RPA provides significant time savings for the planners and analysts that use this system.
Ryder selected a solution from Kofax. The system was easy enough to use that business users, rather than developers, learned to create the rules that automate the processes. There is a design studio where the bots are created. Many of the bots have a logic that says, "if you see this, do this." The bots reside in a management console. Users can create a schedule to trigger bot tasks. Or, bots can be manually initiated.
In the supply chain realm, when we think of digital technologies, RPA is not top of mind. But for those looking to automate highly manual tasks with a high degree of accuracy and consistency, this can be a good technology to explore.
Within six weeks of making the switch from manual to automated planning using Paragon technology, Ryder has achieved the results it desired for its client: consistent customer service levels; transport cost savings centred on reduced mileage; complete system confidence based on ease of use and route reliability; and a return on investment in a matter of months.
Getting started with Rider and Unity is nice and easy. Rider has Unity support built in, and the very first time you open a Unity solution it will automatically configure Unity to use Rider as the default editor for C# scripts and shader files. Once done, double clicking a C# script or shader asset will open the solution in Rider.
Established in 2010, Estate Management Solutions (EMS) was born out of a need in the rapidly growing High Net Worth market of North Texas. Over time, EMS transformed into HNW Solutions, LLC in 2018, becoming a leading Luxury Domestic Consulting company. Today, the company specializes in providing customized solutions to meet the unique requirements of each principal.
When I launch Rider 2020.3 with my Unity 2020 project the solution-wide code analysis reports 3.5K files as having warnings or errors. This makes the analysis practically useless.
Well, this isn't the best solution, but I ended up recording a macro of clicking on the next warning button, then using the shortcut ctrl-alt-shift-8 to excluded the file.I left that running for a few minutes until it hit every file. Then I had to manually go back in to my code files that had warnings and use the shortcut again to re-enable them.

Constantly adding features on top of underlying green screens resulted in a monolithic application that was no longer intuitive nor scalable. Barnabus Muthu, IT & Application Architect at Ryder, knew he had to build a modern web solution if Ryder wanted to stay competitive.
Logistics and transportation company Ryder announced Jan. 4 that it has completed two acquisitions that will accelerate growth in its supply chain solutions business, expand its eCommerce fulfillment network and add multi-client warehousing capability.
With the expanded footprint enabled by this deal, Ryder said its eCommerce and omnichannel fulfillment solution is expected to deliver to anywhere in the U.S. within two days and to 60% of the country within one day.

Alas, while that specific scenario isn't supported, it turns out that there are other ways you can achieve this behavior with only a little more extra work by using a local NuGet feed that's specific to your project/solution. More on that in a minute.
So you can also use a local NuGet Source. I've always known that you can add a local NuGet package source, but in the past I've shied away from this solution because I thought - incorrectly - that would mean consumers of a repository would have to explicitly set up the secondary package source. Turns out that's not correct and you can pre-configure a package source as part of your Solution.
While this is not as easy as a relative path package reference as per my original musing, it's still a pretty simple solution. As a bonus it works for many packages and doesn't require for projects to use any path references, so it's actually a cleaner solution.
which keeps the extra NuGet package tied to the project rather than the solution. I can of course still point back to the solution folder as well, but the real value of this option is that I can keep the NuGet reference with my specific project that needs it, keeping the dependency management confined to the project that needs it, rather than pushing it up to the Solution. This makes this approach portable even if the project is attached to another solution later.
I'll be the first to admit I waste a lot of time trying to find simple solutions like this, because I simply don't know about them. The MS Build process has so many components to it, and Microsoft has done a good job of extracting the most common features and defaulting them where everything 'just works' out of the box which is awesome (Kudos!). But when you end up doing a little bit different it's often really hard to discover the customizations that are available. This feature I describe here is great, but judging from responses to my Tweet few know about it. Hopefully a post like this helps out in discovery and taking advantage of this functionality a little bit more easily.
The ability to add a local Nuget.config to a solution or use in a project to override behavior are great tools to add a private NuGet feed that is pre-configured and doesn't required consumers of the project to fiddle with setting up a custom package source.
