the artical did not help and i contacted apple and was told that i would need to get new phone and apparently it is my fault my photos will be lost because i did not back it up even after telling them that itunes failed to back it up

If looking for a free solution...then the links from Androish is about it. Also, hitting up the Apple Store "might" get you a solution since your real question is "why will my iPhone not cut on?". My first thought is dead battery but need to know more about when last used phone, did you drop it and other details of that nature.

Once the problem is not free (like replacing the battery), you have the question of "what is it worth to you?". An Apple Store, if no water damage is found, will replace for I think $59+ (again assuming that's the issue). If beyond that and they start talking in terms of replacing logic boards (their name for motherboards), telling you the phone is not repairable or selling you a new device. Note that none of these "recommendations" will address the real problem and just thank them for their time.

Often "data recovery" is less about restoring the data itself and just an issue of fixing the thing the data is on, thereby giving you access to it aka "recovering" the data. For many, especially Apple, they assume its some security mumbo jumbo about encryption, security codes, and other nonsense but fixing your phone is by default recovering your data.

Now once have new phone or working phone you want to make sure this doesn't happen again. That part is never covered for some reason. Rule #1 of any data you have regardless of device is backup, backup, backup. Ideally you have three copies - 1 on original device, 2nd on something else (I go with external hard drive) and 3rd elsewhere that isn't the same physical location as the first two copies in case of fire and the like. i went with a cloud backup but an external hard drive kept elsewhere works too. Tall order to do 3x backup but you ALWAYS want at least one duplicate copy cause you never know when something is going to break. Create that backup policy for yourself & your family. Better to lose a few months worth of data instead of years and years of it because didn't take time to do the occasional backup.

So if want free solution, then install Google Photos (cause unlimited space for photos), Dropbox (my preferred cause like way it renames photos to date and time photo taken) or OneDrive onto your device and log in. When prompted about backing up your photos choose Yes. This will start a process to back all that stuff up to that account. This process is not constantly running in the background due to the nature of how iOS handles security and apps so you still have to periodically go back into one of these so it looks for new photos that have not been backed up. I tend to do it once a month but increase frequency based on how often you take photos.

The not free solution is iCloud as only give you 5gbs of space with more costing more then other cloud solutions. Advantage of iCloud is it will do the automatic backup (assuming you went and enabled all that) since iCloud can run in the background since Apple is going to white list their own stuff. So extra cost might be worth not having to manage the backup much. Really depends on volume of photos talking about.

While rather long winded, Kingdom is correct and you are wrong. If the phone can be repaired data can be recovered. If it cannot be no data recovery company in the world can recover data from it. Except possibly the one that recovered data for the FBI, at a cost of roughly $1 million. But the way they did it won't work anymore, because Apple closed that vulnerability.

I have a destroyed iPhone 6 plus. Is their any way to remove the hard drive or, should really say flash drive and put it in a working iPhone. I have a lot of info that might be lost forever. Is it possible anyone apple store or third party could do this? Thanks!

There are data recovery services that can sometimes get data from an iPhone. They are not cheap, however. The problem is the contents are hardware encrypted, so unless the encryption key is intact that won't work either. Even Apple cannot get data out of a working iPhone if asked by law enforcement.

Hello! My iPhone got water damaged and my iCloud wasn't working so all my photos and really important information is lost forever.. can't they get the hard rive out or something because even my grandpa hads and its a bit silly if the Apple Store can't

There is no hard drive in an iPhone. It's all solid state memory, and it is encrypted. All of your information is lost forever if you didn't use any of the half dozen different ways that Apple provides for backing up all Apple products. You might try contacting Drive Savers ( =iphone), but I suspect they will tell you what I just posted. It's your best chance, but it will not be inexpensive.

On an iPhone 5s or newer, removing the solid state storage will not help at all. The data on it is encrypted and the decryption does not merely require your passcode. It requires that you enter that passcode on the original functional device. The decrypt key is tied to your passcode and the device hardware so without the storage chips in the same device (same logic board, cpu, etc) and all functioning properly, there is nothing to recover on that storage but encrypted gibberish.

I can't figure out how that sort of post is profitable. But it's pretty common. The spammer will quote an early post with a legitimate link (or no link), write something about how helpful the post was and change the link. This one did go a bit farther.

There is no hard drive in an iPhone. Just SSD memory, which is permanently affixed to the logic board. If the board isn't damaged an independent shop may be about to put it in a new enclosure. If you had important information on the phone presumably you backed it up regularly to either iCloud or to iTunes on your computer; ideally, you set up automatic daily backup as you were prompted to do when you first activated the phone. You can then restore the backup to a replacement phone.

Does no response when plugging iPhone into computer mean the motherboard is not working? I presume if it was just the screen it would still load when plugging it in. Alas, I did not set up an iCloud or backed up the iPhone. Was selling it in a few weeks. Didn't realize how many important things I wrote in my notes and took video of over a period of 3 weeks.

not sure if you got it fix yet but what you said and the look of your iphone you need a new whole screen assembly including the home button and to get your data back you need a working screen for sure to enter your passcode and backup your phone. I suggest trying going apple Genius Bar get a screen replacement if you got warranty or try a 3rd party that can put a screen so you can remove the passcode and backup it up For now

Okay so here it goes, I restarted my iphone 6 the other day and it won't boot properly. (stucked in apple logo). I made a hard reset and followed the instructions on how to update using itunes. I was able to update it to ios10.3.3 and it worked perfectly.

My battery died and while I was charging it, the apple logo kept on blinking and kept on rebooting (dark screen) for like 4-5 seconds. I tried the same method again, making sure I click on UPDATE and not RESTORE.

It finished updating the ios again but to my horror, it restored to factory settings. I lost all 60gb worth of photos and videos all the memories I had for the last two years. I know it's stupid of me not to back it up in itunes or icloud.

How about those third party data recovery softwares? or any company that can recover the content? I checked my icloud and not a single photo were uploaded.. and why did this update ruined my phone?? It was working perfectly for the last 2 years.

It can't be recovered if you restore the device to factory settings. Storage on an iPhone is encrypted. When you restore it the encryption key is trashed and a new one is generated. Without the original key the contents of the phone's storage are irretrievable. It's true that the FBI was able to recover data from an iPhone 5, but it cost them over $900,000. And the method their contractor used would not work on a newer phone or newer version of iOS.

The update did not ruin your phone, at least not from your description. Something went wrong with your phone, maybe software, maybe hardware, maybe cosmic rays. It's hard to say what. But, from your description, it happened before you updated. My iPhone 6 once simply restarted itself while I was using it and, when it finally rebooted, it had wiped itself. I restored from the iCloud back up that had been automatically made the night before and went about my life. There is an old saying about data storage: It's not a question of if your hard drive/iPhone/USB stick will fail, it's a question of when.
