localization

Hi all,
I've pushed a minimal i18n system. I'm using xgettext in python mode,
since ruby is not supported. It seems that the syntax is similar
enough not to cause any troubles.
I also added an italian translation.
Please note that some strings are untranslatable. This is because I've
been using internal identifiers for creating user-visible strings (a
big no no, if you want your application to be localized :)). That will
be hopefully fixed soon.

Now let the translations roll! :)
