It's been a while since i have posted on here so thought i would say hello and see what everyone is up to. I think i posted a while back that i had to let my bike go about 5 years ago and have been missing it and te great ride outs i had with all you guys. Well finally i am in a position to get back on a bike again later this year. It would be nice to get back in touch and meet up if anyone is up or it. Please get in touch and let me know who is still out there riding and what you have all been up to.

Hi Martin,
Nice to hear from you again.  It's good to know you'll be back on 2 wheels soon.  I hope the rust didn't set in too deeply.

I was planning on getting away for a few days this summer but no plans have been made yet.  It would be nice to meet up with the usual suspects for a few days of family free jollity.

  Regards

Rob

Hi Rob, i have kept some of the rust at bay by having lots of Test Rides. I would love to join you this Summer however its probably going to be September at earliest before i can get a bike. If things change i will obviously update you. I am now saving to do a trip to the Isle of Man TT in 2017, one on the Bucket list.

September?  That's a shame.  I can only get away during the school holidays.  My wife is a teacher and I do the school run so I cannot be away.

I was hoping to get 5 days away in one block as I've been wanting to get over to the Swiss Alps for a few years now but it will have to be August if I get the chance.  I'm sure my old GS can cope with that - yep, still got that bike.

Rob

I know it's a pain but that's when i will have the spare cash sadly. Always wanted to ride the Swiss Alps myself.  I still work in a school so school hols would be when i could get away too. Lets hope i can do something sooner.

Not since I told him that ZZR1400's are crap after mine drank all of it's oil one evening and seized all four big end bearings and ruined the crankshaft.

Yes, I heard from Bazza last week. Last year he acquired a Royal Enfield to add to his fleet.

I've still got the TDM,  which is long in the tooth but still enjoyable. The ER5 was sold for £1 to a friend's grandson and is shinier than it has been for years.

Have also got an old BSA and sidecar which is fun but relatively slow - 40mph feels like 80mph.

It's a 10 year old Kawasaki Z750 Martin.

I started riding with the group over ten years ago on an ER5 then moved up to The Z

Morning All. been getting posts but couldn't post back due to issue with old email account, but Simon has kindly sorted me out using current email address, so thanks Simon.
Glad you are still riding, Jack.
I traded in my Tiger 1050 last spring for a shiny Tiger 1200 Explorer, which I am very please with. Been riding my push bike to try and get fitter (not managed to lose weight though!), and apart from a couple of thousand miles in France last June, haven't ridden her much. Previous 2 years I went to Tridays in Austria, and might go again this year.

I keep in touch with Baz, who will soon become a Dad for the first time. :)

Cheers

PS Photo of a great big thing...and a Tiger 1200!

Hi Martyn, great to hear from you. I miss my Tiger 1050SE it was a great machine. Your Adventure looks the business, especially with the hard luggage. However i remember having that same luggage on a BMW F800GS and struggling to filter with the rest of the gang on a trip trough Belgium  a few years ago.

Would be great to meet up.

Anywhere within 1/2  a days ride of Poole will be OK for me I.E. up to 250 miles.

My mobile number is 07801 704075.

Cheers!

I loved my 1050, and nearly bought the 1050 Sport, but a test ride on the Explorer, and a shaft drive sealed the deal. I have the Holan Nomada boxes, which fit very closely to the frame. Compared to the metal SW Motech boxes I had on the 1050, the TEX is nearly 8" narrower!.....which is nice!

Cheers

Photo distorts it I think, Martin. It is a good size (45l) but not massive. They do an XL version (64l) Holan Nomada that takes 2 helmets!

This photo puts it in context (Another TEX behind me (my topbox arrowed) and a couple of GS's in front) and I don't think it looks bigger that t'others. As the wife was with me on that trip, I could have done with the bigger one, and had an SW Motech bag strapped on top for extra storage!

When my 1150GS finally dies the Triumph Explorer is top of the list to replace it.  There is something about a big traillie with metal boxes that is very pleasing to my eye.  Might be a few years down the line yet though.  The GS is still going strong at 115,000 miles.

Well. The day as come.

For health reasons I am no longer able to ride so I've disposed of my Kawasaki Z750. I do have many fond memories of weekends and long weekends spent with you guys both in the UK and on the Continent.

Cheers! everone.

Get a power boat then Jack ... although i love sailing and it can be very exciting on a laser in strong winds.

We use Hawks but can't put out if winds above 5 knots because we have disabled people on board. Good when we are out and the wind gets up. We use our judgement then. Where do you sail?
