Hiya! Jack Hancock (Grandad) here.

Hope you are still managing to get out together and over to the continent. I still have my Z750 but hardly go out on it these days.

Lot of changes in my life since Switzerland. I never did post my pics of my trip after I left them. I've still got them if you like me to put them online. I COULD USE Facebook.

Cheers! Jack

Hi Jack,
Nice to hear from you old boy! What's this about Switzerland? A trip
or did you go to live there? I worked there for a few months many, many
years ago but I never had chance to get out of town and take a look
around the nice bits. I'd love to take a trip out there and explore the
mountains.

I don't get much chance to ride for fun these days but I do have to
commute on the bike around 35k each year and it's all on straight roads
so my tyres are permanently square!

Kawasaki ER5 is not the best name for the group now. Perhaps
Kawasaki Z group as you still have your Z750 and barry and I have 3
ZZR's between us :-)
I've still got my trusty old BMW R1150GS which I've recently brought
out of semi-retirement as my winter hack. 89k miles and it still feels
brand new. I'm hoping it hit's 100k before it gets put away for the
summer next year. I've always tried to get my bikes to 100k but
something has always broken forcing me to trade it in but I feel sure
this BMW will get me there :-)

Anyway Jack, how are you keeping these days? There isn't much
traffic on this group any more so it's had to keep tabs on people.

Regards

Rob

Some of us went for a few day in 2008 then I carried on alone down onto French Riveira, then across to northern Spain and up west coast of France 3500 miles. Was my Swansong before drawing back to a less adventurous life style as a grandad.

I live in Poole now moved south for my health before the northern damp and Asthma killed me. Since I stopped coming away wirh you guys I've gone from being a grandchildless old fart to becoming a farting old grandad of four. Every Tuesday night in summer
Is a big bikers night. Google "Coles Millar Dream Machines" for more details. Got to dash now. Be a mate and update the group on where things are up to with me.  Cheers!

Hi Jack,
Our posts were automagically sent to the forum.  Not sure who reads it these days though.  In the last couple of years the only one I've been in touch with is Barry.

I must remember that you live in Poole.  I live in Gillingham, North Dorset and once a year I try to get down to the Poole Quay bike night.  It's finished for this year now but if I get a chance to get down there next year I'll be sure to drop you a note to see if we can meet up there for a natter and a pint.

  Regards

Rob

I still get messages from this forum when they are posted, still on an ER-5, still used for daily commute, just trying to get used to filling uo once a week now.

Hi Everyone

Still getting the messages here too.
Not got the ER5 any more (although it is still on the road as a friend has it)
I have upgraded to an ER6n which is cool.
Hope everyone is well and still biking?

Hi all,

I’m still riding round on two wheels too.

A 6 year-old Yamaha TDM 900  takes me to work and back.

For “fun” an old BSA and sidecar are pulled out of the garage.
It’s somewhat slow – the 160 miles south to my brother’s in Huddersfield took... 7 hours (more or less non-stop).

Wow. My first bike was a 1959 BSA C15. I bought it for £10  off a guy in the factory I worked at in 1965. God I loved that bike. Petrol was the equivalent of 20p a gallon then. Once coming down a big hill in Wales on it I managed to touch 100mph. Shit myself. It was either the fact I had a fierce wind behind me (not created by me, but nature) Or my speedo was on the blink. She was only 250c.c.
Been to Butlins for a week of shagging and was on my way home. Like a silly sod I sold it at 22 to put the money towards an engagement ring. Didn't we do some stupid things when we were young. Should have kept the bike. Would have got much more pleasure and today it would be worth a bob or two. For you youngsters out ther that means a pile of money. If anyone isever  in the Poole area text me on 07801 704075 and I'll buy you an icecream.

Cheers!

Jack Hancock here. I've set up a subsidiary email address called kawij...@gmail.com. I'm going to set up a google circle to post photo's and posts (past and present)  in so anyone in the group can see what I post. Please will you add me.
Cheers!

Hi All
Good to see quite a few of us on here.
I've still got my Honda CBF1000 manly used at weekends and the occasional longer touring trip. Also go out a few times a year with the CBF1000 forum on rides and try to get to Europe once a year for a short holiday. This year went down through the Ardennes and along into Germany following the Mosel to the Rhine a trip we had done before with the old group.

Cheers
Pete

Morning,
I recently swapped my R1200RT for a ZZR1400. The RT was a great bike
on the motorway but I HATED the ESA. I think it was faulty from the day
I bought it (at 3 years old) but I finally managed to get BMW to replace
the rear shock under warranty. 2k if I had to pay for it myself! The
fact that riding on knackered suspension for over a year and knowing
that huge bill would hit me again one day made my mind up about getting
rid of it. It was a shame in a way because with the new shock the bike
was transformed into a fine handling machine.

I still have my R1150GS. That is still running on it's original 11
year old suspension even though it's done 90k miles now. That bike
still feels exactly the same as when I bought it 4.5 years ago with only
25k covered. Over engineered and built like an old tractor and sooooooo
simple to maintain. I expect to keep it longer than the ZZR!

Regards

Rob C
