Morning All,
I was going to plan a summer trip this year. Work, or rather lack
thereof, dictates I don't spend the money on a jolly this year.

It's been a while since I've seen any life in this forum. I hope
you're all well.

Regards

Hi Rob , good to hear from you, i am without bike at present anyway.. partner was made redundant a few months ago so money tight, hence no bike. Hope this and your current position resolve themselves soon.

All well here thanks Rob.
Just purchased myself an upgrade (ER6n) and it is very nice indeed.
Hope you situation improves soon?
Still got the Versys?

Good to see there's life in the old forum yet! Lack of trips definitely
equals
sign of the times. Hasn't stopped Bazzer adding to his Kwacker collection,
though! ; - )
Last year was the first year since passing my test in 2002 that I didn't
ride
abroad. Going on a Northern European battlefields tour at the end of June
with a
group, and wife on the back, so its our main summer holiday, not an 'extra'
lads
trip. Sign of the times.
Up for a ride out or meet somewhere sometime to say hello, though? Now Baz
is
loved-up, he might not be allowed out, though! LOL!

Cheers

Martyn

Nice to hear from you all.

I didn't organise a trip last summer because a mate and I took a 5 day ride to the Spa F1 Grand Prix :-)

This year I wanted to complete my abandoned Scotland trip from 2 years ago but alas it's not to be. Perhaps next year.

Hope you enjoy your trip Martyn. I couldn't go on a biking holiday with my missus as I couldn't bring myself to attach a trailer to my bike to carry all of her "necessary" stuff.

Hi all, good to see the forum is still alive! thought i'd been booted off or something.
I too am without bike, have been for about 3 years now, but i am getting a little Mazda MX5 next week, which will keep me happy for now. With my job being so hectic, all over the UK and Oversea's not had much time to do anything like our trips, really miss them though, have to say my favourite was Switzerland!!! Fantastic! Hope to repeat some of the trips in the car, but wont be the same.

Jason.

Hi all,

Nice to hear from some familiar faces :-)

Scotland was my last trip as well, so I hope those without a bike get
one soon and we can have yet another weekend away somewhere...taking
the piss out of me! Thats if I can get permission :-)

Cheers,

Barry

Hi all,

Amazing how many are still around - a blast from the past!

My latest bike is a good few years older than me.
I don't know if this is the downward slope or another step towards
motorcycling Nirvana.
It's certainly fun but (even) slower than the ER-5.

Good to hear from you all,
Simon

Hey Simon, is that the BSA your talking about? If it is and it is the downward slope then i'm not far behind!

Just bought a 65 Bantam.

"wheelie" Phil (waiting for a "new fangled rubbish" comment)

Hi Phil,

Yes it's the BSA.

Have just put new bearings in the magneto.
After several years, I'm still putting right the damage done by previous owners :-)

Should think the Bantam will be a hoot!

I Hope so but you know how this stuff goes!

I'm already discovering the last owner was a muppet! He completely Bastardised the electrics and i've discoverd it has a D1 exhaust on a D7. I've got through 30L of vinager in 3 weeks so far de rusting the internals of the tank and i've discovered the joys of caustic soda solutions in confined area's..... so all good fun so far:-)

On the positive side a new harness is ordered, the engine is giving reasonable compression off the kick start and the frame and wheels are in good condition.

Oh yes, the horn works a treat :-)

Paint work is original but very faded and the original engine came with it as a spare. so the general plan is 1. get the installed motor running 2. get it through an MOT 3. run it at least once without it blowing up or killing me (preferably to the end of year Stafford classic show) then 4. sort the paintwork and the original engine over next winter.

This is probably the best case scenario i can hope for as the bikes been off the road since 94 and last reported fired up 8 years ago.

Problem is that if i get it "healthy" i'm not sure i'll be able to Handle the 7.4HP :-)

Wheelie Phil is proving he can still use a rusty tool to good effect.

Bit of a Blast From The Past. Suddenly started getting forum posts to
my hot mail, with many names which bring back happy memories from over
6 years ago!! ( France and Wales ride outs 2004 -2006?)

Great to know most of you are still on the road with two wheels. Sadly
I sold my ER5 two years ago, as I had not ridden it since I returned
to Manchester to deal with my dad passing away in 2006.

However, I am in the early stages of renovating my dads 1957 Ariel
Huntmaster 650cc FH. I am just a front mudguard short of sending the
frame and tins away for cleaning and painting.

So hopefully early next year, I should be back on the road with a nice
bit of Birmingham history....

Great to know you guys are still about.

Regards.

I think it is fantastic that a message saying that nothing is going to happen can restart the group chat!
Well done Rob!

It works with wives too. Try it. Sit at home all day doing nothing. See how much "discussion" that provokes.

Simon/Wheelie Phil - I know of two bantams looking for a new home :-)
One is non runner, the other is in pretty good condition and is in GPO
setup.
