to Kawartha Blazers Sledge Hockey
On Saturday April 2nd the Kawartha Blazers Junior Sledge Development, and the Intermediate "B" teams traveled to Brampton to participate in the Ontario Sledge Hockey Association Champions Day, both teams returned home with gold medals as the 2016 Champions of their respective divisions.

The Junior Development Team defeated the Essex - Kent Ice Bullets by a score of 3 - 1 in a well played game by both teams. This made win number 13, 10 and 0 in the regular season plus 3 and 0 in the play offs to complete an undefeated season, well done players and bench staff! This is the second season of returning to competitive hockey for the juniors and their second medal, they won the silver medal in 2015 at Champions Day.

The Intermediate "B" Team defeated a tough Elmvale Bears Team by a score of 2 - 1 both teams played the best games of the season. The Blazers opened the scoring early in the first period, the Bears fought back to tie the score late in the first period. The game remained tied at the end of regulation time, the 5 minute 3 vs 3 over time period did not solve anything so off to a shoot out we went. Each team scored once with the initial three shooters, so they advanced to a sudden death shoot out with Darryl Puck scoring for the Blazers to secure the win and the gold medal! This is the third season for the intermediates since returning to competitive hockey, and their second trip to Champions Day, bringing home the silver medal in 2014, and being knocked out of the play offs in 2015 loosing in the Semi - finial game to the Kitchener Sidewinders in a shoot.
