Dear KGG,
Please see the clerk at the produce weighing counter if you wish to purchase a smaller quantity of organic produce than the packaged offerings. Mr. Tariq is not able to sell organic produce in open bins as he can the other vegetables because, as he explained to me, the packaging protects the organic growers from those who would repackage it and sell it under their own name or, say that it's organic when it may not be. I guess this a problem in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, when I visited Tamimi yesterday, I was able to buy: organic green beans, sweet green peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers and hot peppers. A recipe for ratatouille might be a good solution for all those Mediterranean vegetables. And it freezes well!!
Warm regards,
Rachel
