Sorry folks! Seems that the web version of this month's newsletter went kind of weird so re-posting. Hopefully, the formatting on this one is better.
Aloha line dancers of Hawaii and beyond! I do hope you all are doing well! First off, I wanted to touch base with you in regards to the Hawaii Line Dance Festival (HLDF). The State of Hawaii is seeing an all-time high in Covid-19 cases. While Kauai has seen its highest numbers to date, luckily, we are still the lowest in the state. At this time the HLDF is still scheduled to proceed as planned! We have gotten approval from the Kauai Emergency Management Agency (KEMA) to proceed with the event on October 1 & 2, 2021. That said, The County of Kauai has implemented the following requirements for the event to proceed:
1) All attendees and volunteers need to present a copy of their Covid Vaccination Card upon entry. Proof of vaccination shall mean participants provide documentation that they have received all doses required for full vaccination of their respective vaccine type, and have cleared 14 days from their last dose (9/17/2021 or prior). If you are not vaccinated OR your last vaccination dose is after 9/17/2021, then you must submit a negative Covid-19 test result that is timestamped within 24 hours of the event. Free Covid-19 testing is available at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall Mon – Fri from 8am to 3:30pm located at 4191 Hardy Street. Lihue, Hi 96766. Or at the Lihue Pharmacy Group, 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm located at 4491 Kolopa Street. Lihue, Hi 96766 (next to State Farm). You will receive your results at these 2 locations on the same day you test.
2) Masks must be worn at all times while inside the building unless you are actively eating or drinking.
3) There will be lots of space for social distancing including the dance floor area. Hand Sanitizer and Sanitizing Wipes will be available for everyone to use, but we also encourage you to bring your own.
At least 95% of our line dance community is made up of Kupuna (Elderly, Senior Citizens). We must all do our part to provide a safe and healthy environment for the event and its attendees.
On a lighter note, here are the dances you can expect to be played during social dancing. The list is in alphabetical order and does not represent the order in which songs will be played.
Click here. *Be advised that this list is subject to change*
The official event schedule will be sent out to those that have registered soon. So keep an eye out for that!
If you are still planning to attend the HLDF and have not gotten your passes yet, be sure you purchase them soon! All prices go up $10 on September 21, 2021. All walk-up registration will be subject to the higher prices.
We are also asking for donations to the Hawaii Line Dance Festival. The HLDF event is a fundraiser for the Kauai Veterans Center & Museum. For monetary donations
Click here. If you would like to donate other things such as gift cards, individually wrapped snacks, and things we can use for door prizes, etc. Please send them to Jeffrey Callejo Jr. 1604 Kuahale St. Kapaa, Hi 96746 or you may hand them to me when you see me. *** Please note that any monetary donation does not give you access to the event. You must still register and pay for a pass at
