Aloha line dancers of Hawaii and beyond. I hope everyone is doing well! We are almost at the end of the 1st quarter! My how time flies! Speaking of time, have you adjusted to the time change (for those affected)? Glad we don’t have to do that in Hawaii haha!
First off, I do have some sad news to report. The Hawaii line dance community has lost an incredible instructor, dancer, and friend. Wednesday, March 9, 2022, Wendie Rhody from Maui gained her wings and is now dancing with the angels. I want to honor all that she has shared with our line dance community here in Hawaii and on the mainland. She attended many line dancing events and was known by many choreographers from around the world. Her infectious smile and personality will surely be missed.
On a lighter note, FYI for the Kauai Line Dance group, Kauai Bowl is reopening on Friday March 25, 2022 which means we will be back to our regular Wednesday schedule starting next week March 30, 2020. In light of our 4 week hiatus from their renovations, we will be dancing this Saturday March 26, 2022 from 7:30pm to 10pm+.
I am super happy to announce that I have been invited to be on staff again at this year’s Vegas Dance Explosion! It is truly an honor and I am grateful for the opportunity to once again be shoulder to shoulder with some of the best line dance choreographers in the world! The event will run Nov. 8, 2022 thru Nov. 13, 2022 at the West Gate Resort and Casino.
Things are coming along for the HLDF & Craft Fair! Passes to the event have started to sell, as well as vendor spots for the craft fair. If you are planning to attend the event, be sure to buy your passes soon. If you are a vendor wanting to sell your wares, be sure to contact Roberta at hldfcr...@gmail.com for a vendor application or for more information.
When searching for travel arrangements, be sure to include Mokihana Travel Service at 808-245-5338 to help book your air, hotel, and car for the HLDF! They can offer airfare on Hawaiian Airlines which is fully refundable up to 7 days before your departure and also includes 2 free checked luggage. Be sure to mention the Hawaii Line Dance Festival when inquiring for price quotes! They can also quote other travel arrangements as well. Give them a try, it never hurts to shop around!
I am happy to share the list of open dances likely to be played at the HLDF. Click here to view or download the PDF file. The dance title serves as a link to the stepsheet and/or video. There are currently 3 dances on the list that have no step sheets and will be available at a later time. Please be advised that this list is subject to change.
Lastly, more class and open dance information has come in since last month’s newsletter. A great sign that our line dance community is starting to open back up!!!
