Bob Pierce, founder of Samaritan’s Purse, said “Let my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God.” This weekend, we have seen hearts breaking in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike that made landfall as a category 2 hurricane along the Texas Gulf Coast.
Samaritan’s Purse has three Disaster Relief units on the ground setting up base camps in Port Arthur, Friendswood, and in the Santa Fe/Galveston area. In addition, we continue to provide hurricane relief to the people of Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav.
We need volunteers of all skill levels – especially volunteers who are experienced in using chainsaws and hauling debris. We are also in need of volunteers who can tarp the roofs of houses and clean up after flood damage. Please consider how you can be the hands and feet of Christ to people in need in Texas and Louisiana.
