Gaming February 9th

I'm still encouraging everyone to at least check out our facebook
group... but I'll keep posting here as not everyone has made the leap
to admitting we're all friends on a public forum yet :-)

I'll be bringing Primordial Soup and Homesteaders this week for
sure... and Jonathan has a shiny new expansion he wants to try out
with Cosmic Encounter. If there are any other requests I'll fill my
bag with those. If not I'll just fill up the bag with whatever catches
my eye.

We had a fine game night on Tuesday. Jonathan, Jesse and I were the
first three there and Jonathan brought out For Sale as a nice filler
while we waited. It has a bit of auction and a bit of trick taking
and was a good, light way to start off the night. I'll have to get
myself a copy for family use...

Then Greg rambled in with CJ and we broke out Cosmic Encounter with
Jonathan's new Cosmic Incursion expansion. In our first game only
Jonathan drew a new alien... but the Sniveller was plenty to start
with! When ever he fell behind in colonies or ships or cards he could
whine about it and either he would gain or all of us would loose. In
the end Jesse and Jonathan shared a victory with everyone sitting at 4
planets. Well done gentlemen.

The second game was quite memorable for me as a drew the Original
Filch Flare (on top of my shiny new Deuce power)... which allowed and
encouraged me to cheat by drawing extra cards. I was sure I would be
caught as I am not good at that sort of thing... but on my first
attempt I drew the Chronos flare which allowed me to take cards from
the discard pile every turn and reshuffle the deck (and thanks to
Filch grab a card off the bottom of the deck as well when no one was
looking...). I stoole a bunch of cards from Jonathan and Greg as
compensation during battle as well so I built a substansial card lead
for a solo win (which I still feel kind of dirty about... silly
Filch). We also used the new compensation cards this time out and
they were a nice addition to the game.

Everyone else headed out after that (it was around 8:30) so Jonathan
and I pulled out DVONN and split a pair of games while waiting for his
wife to be ready to pick him up. All in all a fine, laid back
evening.
