From Company BLU. An important force for experimental dance in Italy

Dear friends and colleagues,
Charlotte and Alessandro here from Company Blu. We realize that we launched this fundraising campaign right at the start of the summer holidays. While we are really grateful for the generous support we have already received, we also know that many of you may not yet have had the chance to contribute. We are reaching out now because we believe that many of you would like to stand with Company Blu in this once-in-a-lifetime financial crisis caused by the sudden and untimely funding cut for our production activities by the Ministry of Culture (MiC) to the FNSV program (formerly FUS).
As we look ahead to the 2025/26 season, we are entering with less debt than before - thanks to the generosity of so many of you who donated over the past weeks. We began with €43,000 in deficit and are now down to €33,000. This has already made a real difference: we have been able to pay part of the overdue fees to our collaborators—artists and professionals who have completed their work and are finally, after months, receiving their due compensation.
We are also in the process of securing regional funding to support our programming at Teatro Limonaia, as well as residencies and company performances across Tuscany, and we remain confident that this support will come through.
Company Blu is very much alive and fighting. Our priority now is to cover bills and taxes on our Studio Blu dance space so that we can continue rehearsals, performances, and educational activities. These include our Professional Training Course Danza d’Origine Personale // DOP – Formazione 2025/26, the Saturday Morning Improvisation Sessions, Open Windows Weekend Laboratories, as well as our ongoing weekly classes in Contemporary Dance, Movement, and Voice, in addition to private coaching and voice lessons.
