Onlythe depth detection from reshade is problematic, because it can allow you to spot opponents further away than intended with a proper filter/effect. Which is why it is automatically disabled if you use it in a multiplayer game.

so you mean, like Reshade? because ReShade is for all intents and purposes SweetFX rethought and built from the ground up all over again.

neither is as you describe though, since both have features to inject filter overrides to 3D applications.

So does my Nvidia card. Like I said, I never used them, but I look at the feature list of SweetFX, and there's nothing there that I can't do with the per-application settings in Nvidia's Control Panel.

Either way I think sweetfx, and definitely reshade, offers more options outside of whatever the basic nvidia control panel does. Surely if that wasn't the case people wouldn't bother using it and it wouldn't be as popular?

Further to that I've also been under the impression that even though the control panel says it can implement xyz function, sometimes it still doesn't but external graphic programs like these actually do.

Nah, color and sharpening/vibrance you can't do per application, you have to change those in the overall color settings. I also think the sharpening filter in reshade looks slightly better than Nvidia's Vibrance filter. But you will also take a performance hit and some FPS drops with reshade sharpening, which you won't if you just use the control panel.

EDIT: It's also worth noting that if you use TAA as anti aliasing in Warframe's settings, you can use the sharpening slider there to apply sharpening. Just be careful, cranking it up can produce some pretty extreme effects.

If you activate geforce experience overlay, you can now actually add ingame filters on the fly that are saved for each game. But sadly, Warframe is not yet supported (and don't know if it ever will be).

How many times have you heard computer experts tell you never to download and use those "optimize your PC" tools, saying they are just clutter and do absolutely nothing you OS couldn't already do? Yet people keep downloading and installing them.

You mean Nvidia Freestyle right? Because Warframe is already supported -au/geforce/geforce-experience/freestyle-games/ and i already used it. It's nice but there are not that many Shader/Shader Options.

The FPS drop is hardly an issue if you aren't coupling it with everything else. But yeah, the sharpening on WF seems to be rather different to SFX and RS and I notice a significant difference when I turn it on and off. As for the overlay, I didn't think it was supported either as it's something I had considered using if it was worthwhile so with this post I might give it a go. Though on SFX and RS both, mainly Reshade, offer more than the control panel if you're into that sort of stuff and the convenience of game profiles. I'm not sure what the feature is but there's one which increases reflections/puts reflections in-game which don't exist normally, greatly enhancing metallics and what not. Don't think that's in the nvidia control panel either.

As for the last bit I'd probably repeat my last comment. If they had nothing going for them people wouldn't use them as they definitely do give more graphics options and can change the visuals of the game considerably opposed to just a few colour tints etc. here and there. I mean, they do do something and you can easily see the results in-game.

But hey-ho, everyone has their own preference. If we could choose what CC tint we like and/or essentially use captura settings in the standard game I'd use that instead as that ticks the boxes for me.

which - isn't correct, but you have the right to an opinion, just not to spread it around.

you can inject new AA methods, inject visual effects that a game doesn't have (why you'd want to for example ADD chomatic abberation is beyond me but hey you can do it).... it's not just screen space color filters.

It is actually correct. I can easily override the AA method of a 3d application with one I've set in Nvidia Control Panel. Just pick your application in the "Manage 3d" settings, and instead of using "Application-controlled" pick all you anti aliasing preferences here, click apply, and now Nvidia settings will override whatever is in your game. You can also add Ambient Occlusion, Anisotropic Filtering, and other shading methods.

Chromatic abberation is however not a rendering/shading option, it is just a post process filter. Which is to say, it's a filter applied after everything has been rendered. That's true for any game that has the effect in their options as well.

Sure, but that will always be the case. No matter what software you use, you are not going to get access to all methods. If you want SMAA antialiasing, you won't get it with Nvidias tools, but you can with ReShade or with AMD's tools (Or you can just activate it in Warframe's options). If you want MFAA anti-aliasing you will get it with Nvidia's tool, but you won't get it with ReShade.

I have seen various posts around this particular issue where its has been suggested that there are potential issues with a variety of areas such as; antialiasing, DX10, shaders and not having up to date drivers etc etc. Having checked all of these out, still no change.

I have isolated the issue however with 1 file in particular, 'd3d9.dll'. Once i delete this file, FSX starts up fine, although SweetFX doesn't appear to work at all. It was mentioned one one particular post that SweetFX will still function without this file, although firstly I have no idea if this is accurate, and if it is in fact correct, why am I not seeing any changes?

As a test I am making sure Split Screen is enabled and have also altered many of the settings (using 'FLight FX: SweetFX GUI) so I assume the difference would be quite noticeable as soon as FSX has loaded as the aircraft preview image also displays the split screen image.
