Kashmirs popular tourist resorts Gulmarg ,Pahalgam and Sonmarg are
wrapped up in a blanket of white, with snowfall turning the hill
stations more picturesque and magnetic for holidaymakers.Sonmarg is
currently out of bounds But this week's snow has suddenly increased
the tourist footfall in Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Gulmarg has emerged as
a favourite tourist destination, followed by Srinagar and
Pahalgam.Gulmarg has plenty of snow where tourists are enjoying
skiing,snow mobiles and sledging. Honeymooners can be seen walking
along the picturesque DalLake boulevard .
Tips for the current season:
1)Good Warm clothing-(Jackets to brave Snow and Rain),Warmers and
Ankle boots -Slippers Absolute NO NO
2)Don't spend all your money travelling-Extra cash to mitigate the
risk of staying for extra day or two incase the flights get cancelled
which had been happening till today
3)Keep your flight operators/Airticket operators number handy

Is Srinagar -Jammu highway open? I am planning to visit Gulmarg also
what about that route?

The Road from Gagangeer onwards all the way upto Leh stays closed most
of the times during winters,
The Road to Gulmarg from Tangmarg will be closed for light vehicles
and for vehicles that dont have chain grip or 4x4(Like yesterday and
today it was closed)But it does not stop the vehicles from
moving ,most of Tourist Hired vehicles especially the Sumo,Qualis..
are allowed
Jammu Srinagar has been closed for the past few days but is likely to
open today on 17th January 2010
