I am very pleased to inform you that as a part of academic initiatives of the University of Mumbai, we are organizing a one day workshop on "How to s of Ph.D. research in Computer Science". Please note the following details in this regard.

Venue: Department of Computer Science, Ranade Building, Vidyanagari, Mumbai-98.
Day and time: 1st September 2009, 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Registration fee: Rs. 75/- only per candidate

I request you to depute the Ph.D. aspired colleagues at your esteemed institute to participate in this workshop and make it a success. I would request you to encourage 2 to 5 students of the final year of Computer Science and allied subjects namely Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics etc., to attend this workshop for the further benefits of their academics.

Background
: Number of people are approaching us everyday with a great wish of pursuing further education and research in Computer Science. Compared to this number we have a very limited resource personnel to guide each one on the personal basis and satisfy the inquiry. It is found that most of the queries are common. Given this, organizing such activity to provide a platform to come together and seek guidance directly from the masters in this subject makes sense.

Objective:
1. Provide the minute level details of How to go for Ph.D. in Computer Science
2. Describe a vision of a quality research work  -  Do s and Don't s to reach to the success
3. Present a review of the past and the current CS research happenings in the University of Mumbai
4. Discuss the potential of CS research in the UPE projects at the University of Mumbai
5. Address the issues of initial stage hurdles and other FAQ s
