Howdy!

I work at a planetarium and this spring we created a show about some of Van Gogh's artwork for our dome. We did this using Zeiss' proprietary show manager software, which is great for creating basic shows for just our dome, but we are looking to increase our capabilites and possibly share our shows with other planetariums. So, I am in the process of remaking the show using Davinci!

I'm looking for any advice on how best to warp planar images when creating a domemaster so that when they are projected they look nice and flat on the dome. Here is an example of one of the paintings features and what the domemaster looks like when the Zeiss software has processed it to look correct for projection. (I'm not worried about the background sky or the city skyline around the edge as they were filmed/created to be domemasters from the jump)The Sower with Border.jpg

Any pointers on how to achieve this are appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hey there!  I work a lot on dome projects in Fusion and generally go about this two different ways depending on the original footage and what I am adding.  If the footage is 360 equirectangular you can use the LatLong patcher and place it into the 360 video and then convert that into dome.  Alternatively, I have created a 3d camera and added an Image of Plane node and then Render 3D.
Most of these nodes have tutorials online from Hugh Hou.
