I have one problematic VR 180 shot where the camera is tilted up just a bit. In premiere, I was able to use the effect “VR Rotate Sphere’ to correct for the camera tilt.

Now, I’m working in Resolve and I can’t find a way to do this. I would be thrilled if the kartaverse tools have something like this. Can anybody here advise?

Thanks!

Hi Nick,

The Kartaverse "kvrRotate180VR.setting" effects template/macro allows you to apply VR180 SBS image rotation effects in Resolve/Fusion.

Yes! Thank you. This is very promising.

There seems to be one problem. I apply the kvrRotate180VR effect in Fusion. Immediately, it seems to clone the left lens over the right lens. So, instead of seeing the Left image and Right image, I see the Left image and Left image side-by-side.

The controls in this effect do exactly what I need, except I'm stuck with two Left images.

As an After Effects person, I'm still at the beginning of the Fusion learning curve. Digging into the node tree, it looks like the "L_Crop" node and the "R_Crop" node have the same values. My guess is that the "R_Crop" node should have values related to the position of the right lens. But, the changes seem to be locked.

I really appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your feedback.

I updated the GitHub gist file attachment to fix an connection issue with the Splitter node's right view output. This should give you the correct left and right eye view result from the macro.

First of all - YES. That fixed it. This effect does what I need 100%.

But, second... I was looking at the Github revision notes. Did you just build this effect template when I asked the question? That's unexpectedly generous. Thank you Thank you very much. This saves a sequence that I REALLY want to use for the piece I'm working on.

Hi Nick,

Yes. I built the effects template to answer your question. One of the upsides with macro node creation is that it is quite fast to build out an idea once you get comfortable with the tools. And in the case you have to fix something later on, you can expand the group and tinker with it visually.

As a tip, the nodes in the macro that have green connection lines running between them were added by copying the first node, then right-clicking and selecting "Paste Instance" in the nodes view. This approach links all of the controls from the first node to the copy which is called an instanced copy. This approach makes it easier to keep the left and right eye node attributes in sync. In the Inspector window you have the option of right-clicking on individual attributes and de-instancing them which allows you to override the settings when it is required.
