This week I created two lens distortion correction DCTLs + fuses for BMD DaVinci Resolve + Fusion Studio. This allows 360VR artists to apply lens corrections in the Edit, Color, and Fusion pages in Resolve, as well as using Fusion Studio/Fusion Render Node.

The nodes allows you to "linearize" the f-theta lens distortion in your live action captured plate footage. These new nodes are development releases.

Note 1: A DCTL file used in a DCTL node on the Color page appears to run at ~2x the performance of the same code running as a fuse in the Fusion page.

Note 2: It should be possible to create mini-versions of the KartaVR WarpStitch and Reframe360 nodes as DCTLs that would run a bit faster on the Color page.

Note 3: A .dctl file is a plain-text format document. If you are curious you can open it up in a text editor to look at what is going on internally.

Hi. A new Kartaverse kvrLens atom package is available in the Reactor Package Manager for Resolve/Fusion.

The kvrLens DCTL fuse allows you to distort your imagery using either the "Brown-Conrady", "Panotools", or "SynthEyes" lens distortion models in Fusion. Brown-Conrady is popular with computer vision tools like OpenCV, and photogrammetry/NeRF tools. Panotools is used with 360VR panoramic imagery. SynthEyes is used for camera tracking/match moving.
